There's a poll around, made last year, asking BM who deserves to be capt of the team.

De Bruyne lost out to Dias, which shocked the fuck out of me.

At some point, I saw that posters thought De Bruyne 'didn't want to lead the team'. I thought that was years ago when there were more experienced leaders on the field.

Now, I voted KdB cos I have witnessed him drive the team on a huge amount of times and thought it was obvious capt material.

Nobody deserves the accolades better than this man in the last few years, but it looks like he'll never win the balon d'or if he can't win the capt vote on BM!
I always think de Bruyne gets frustrated with everyone else and starts moaning at them when he’s captain.

Interesting.

I'd rather my capt had the drive to WANT me to up my game.

That's passion, not moaning.

Gundo is not bad and clearly majority of City player wants him as the captain of the club.

There's more to be a captain than just being passionate on the pitch.

This may sound absolutely mad, but given how much I love KDB I reckon I'd be more made up for him winning the world cup with Belgium than I would be if England won it. Never been a big international football fan so I'd rather just see KDB cement his legacy and get the credit he deserves. I adore the man.

Absolutely sensational on Saturday. With 10 men for 65 minutes he dug in and led us through that win. Fantastic player with sublime mentality and attitude.

Best PL midfielder of all time for me. In my opinion nobody comes close.
At his absolute peak Yaya was a unicorn, nobody like him. I too give KDB the nod though.

He hasn't been vintage across the entire stretch of games but his quality has pulled us out Today he was extra shite and didn't have magic today. We struggled. He can't drag us out every game

I don't know how anyone can think he is City's best ever player when he has mutliple games like this every season.

Absolutely shocking display all round and topped it off by losing us a point with that dreadful attempt at a tackle.

Because even Messi has bad games from time to time? How many games Aguero was a shadow and didn't do anything? I guess he can't be our best forward ever. One of the most stupid posts here...shocking that a player has several bad matches in a season. I guess you just discovered that players are not machines who always play at the same level during a season...

Would struggle to describe how bad he was today to someone who didn't watch it

Been poor for most or the games this season but clearly has the world class ability to create a moment of magic

Poor today and it highlights how reliant we are on him. We have two players who consistently make things happen and that’s Foden and KDB. If for whatever reason they’re not on it, I have zero faith that any of the others can step up to the mark more often than not.

Grealish, Mahrez, Bernie, Gundo all have their plus points but none of them consistently provide in the final 3rd. Contrast that with a team/squad that also contained Sane, Sterling, Jesus and Merlin. I feel we have taken significant steps back in recent seasons and it shows on days like today. We cannot expect Foden and KDB to pull us out of the shit every week, it just won’t happen. Unless others start to step up, there will be more days like today, it’s a nailed on certainty.

Shit today but we've been leaning far too heavily on him to produce all season, it's just not possible to produce the world class performances needed every week.

Teams are working hard to shut him down it's leaving gaps elsewhere but we've got next to nothing without him. The inverted slow wingers are doing nothing for us, regardless of who plays there. The over reliance on him needs toning down and others need to step up.

City have become far too reliant on Kev. I don’t see anyone else stepping up when he is not at his best.

Can’t fault the player. Clearly shows we have a lot of tidy footballers but not many grab the game by the scruff. Foden maybe the exception.
