This thread is wearing a bit thin now
i hope this isnt a stitch up?
Genuine question - those who moved to sit down with the 1894 group for the group stages. Does that continue into the knockout stages, do we need to contact city?
I sit in the third tier. At times its like being in a library. The codger to the right of me who looks like the yes yes yes yes no guy out of the vicar of dibley coughs and splutters all the way through the game and i have to check the pulse of the old boy to the left of me who looks like mr grace from are you being served, at half time. Anyway my point is how do i get involved with this 1894 group of chums. In my day i used to run with the boys and would be only too happy to see a bit of action again. Please advise. Thanks in advance. Dr Mick, in my car.
good to hear you are planning new displays. no offense, but it feels like you have just using the same banners/displays as last year. you could take inspiration from groups like the one at newcastle - barely been around a year and producing huge hand made displays, which look great.
keep up the good work. !
Hi mate,
We've had to use a few of the same banners for a handful of reasons:
- Donations are drying up to an extent. The more money we have at our disposal the more we can do, but we don't want to constantly pester people for donations!
- A lot of the printed banners are quite expensive, it's a shame to use them once and never again. Rather than do nothing in the lesser games we want to have more re-usable displays (big flags, banners etc) and then we have more of a budget for big games.
The biggest issue in terms of getting hand painted displays is the time involved. There's only a small core of us who are going to each and every game, meeting our contacts at the club, organising singing sections, liaising with other fan groups (the FSF) and campaigning on other issues (£20s Plenty/Don't buy the Sun/Respect Fans). Even a small hand painted banner would take up a full day. Considering we're all juggling full time jobs as well it's really hard to throw even more time into it. Then after all of that we don't have anywhere to paint the banners (we asked the club if we could paint on their property somewhere, but some health and safety bod had a meltdown about it - apparently painting a banner is hazardous stuff!!) .
