1894 Group Banner

Dante here. A few things will come out in the wash. We've had gofundme campaigns on and off over the last 7 years for 1894. People who donate are usually close to the organisation and not only trust us but are pleased with the results. All of a sudden with this one a group of people - probably desperate for attention themselves and who ask City fans to PAY to listen to their opinion on City - are throwing it out there 8 grand this 8 grand that.

They have been irresponsible and have whipped a section of the support up Into hysterics.

First of all you've got to be thick as pig shit if you hadn't realised 10% of the money we don't even see because gofundme take a fee for allowing the platform. We are not a charity so we have to pay charges. So first of all they need to apologise to City fans for perpetuating the lie about how much is available.

Out of that money there were costs for designing, vectoring, drone hire and some other bits and pieces. The final cost is only known when we have done the display but the actual cost of the banner was a lot less than £8k.

We've just worked in the same way that we always do, put a fundraiser out and plan a display off the back of it. We work with a number of printing firms at home and abroad. Some of them will try and help 1894 by providing favourable rates.

Anyone with half a brain would realise that for such a sensitive display such as this we cannot falsely implicate the club and we are not going to negatively affect businesses who have other production rates set With their trade partners.

Just because someone with a podcast with about 20 listeners needs a story we are not obliged to bow to their demands or timescales especially when they just sit on the sidelines and don't attempt to improve the atmosphere. No they just sit on the sidelines and expect people to pay to listen to their opinion on City ! Amazing !

I've personally got no problem with people saying they weren't happy with the display because everyone will have their own view. We realised that we can't please everyone.

However what can be in no doubt is that we achieved our objective clearly which was to get the maximum amount of coverage for the display - a big task considering no fans in the ground at the moment. Had it gone in the stadium on the night it would have gone round the world. As it was the image and message still went round the world. So job done. Even people who don't like the image can't stop talking about it so it's memorable.

Everyone has had a chance to get involved over the years in terms of the atmosphere and putting pressure on the club over prices etc but no let's just sit on the sidelines and moan about everything. "Oh you don't speak for us" no problem at all we'll just speak for who want us to represent them and we will feed their views directly into the club. But then if you keep your distance from us - don't write an article moaning about how dear it is to go to football when you are doing fuck all campaigning yourself and still wanting City fans to PAY to listen to your opinion. What's wrong with starting at the bottom and working your way up the ladder. Wait outside a dressing room and wait to speak to a manager. Some of these guys just want to go straight in and expect adulation and not do any real hard work.

As for the usual tossers "oh they would never have got it in, they are not polish ultras, you don't have that kind of sway with the club" how the fuck would you know? There's always a line of communication with the club and we wouldn't have gone to the trouble of preparing a display unless we felt it was gong to get in the ground.

some great posts in the last two / three pages. Glad to see a lot of people realise that plans got scooped because of the big game being cancelled 5 days before. I am good at painting banners but would have struggled laying out a 45m banner at home and making adjustments :)

I think that puts any doubts to bed. If for some reason there are still questions I don't think we would see an end to this, it would just pointlessly go on and on.

Lets see what happens rest of the month now with court case.

Great response carry on with the good work.

Just caught up with all this shit. Our fan groups have never managed to agree on anything, sadly, right back to the fanzine days.

Well done to all involved for getting off your arses and doing something.

The fan base in general. One or two even dissented about Sheikh Mansour and his obscene wealth.

As a Liverpool fan obviously no skin in this game....but much respect to 1894 for their time and effort to highlight the issue.
As for the design i think it was spot on as you aren't gonna get as much publicity if you just had a banner that said
"UEFA are C*NTS"....even if it is true

...And good luck at CAS

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Spain, we shall fight in Old Trafford and York City, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Etihad, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the fields of Europe, we shall fight on the grounds of Oakwell, Turf Moor and even Anfield, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets (should the grounds be closed), we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this CITY or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our fans beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the OSCs, would carry on the struggle, until, in Kinkladze’s good time, the Premier Leagye, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

It really is quite simple.
?k of money for a cartoon from a kids book to be laid out in a field in a park, is frankly horrendous. Few flares and a drone to nail its coffin.
But it’s not what was intended, picture it folks, in the Madrid game lit up, filling the stand, millions of eyes on it, comments in every paper and tv and like the image or not it would of looked and been very powerful.

My mates mrs recently put her wedding dress on Facebook due to covid cancellation of their wedding, everyone commented how nice it looked and what a shame etc, tbh it looked shit, but if I’d of not thought, how on the day she would of looked and all eyes upon her, I could easily have replied “shit that, waste of money”.

great effort 1894. Events not the banner has let you down.

drinking at that time in the morning is never a good idea ;)

It may get our thoughts across but I think the Banner should have had one simple Direct message and if possible opened in Media City.

i love what the group do,not just this banner, but the effort they put into support and atmospheresometimes city fans just want to look to cool to support,we need to go fucking mental every match

keep up the good work
