If we have a designated area where people know that within that area people want to stand then that is surely the best way forward for all.
A whole tier or 2 whole tiers or even the whole South Stand for people who want to stand and sing and the rest of the ground for people who prefer to sit, surely helps everyone.
Then if safe standing is every re-introduced even as a trial, the designated area of seats where people are standing from their seats already, and are happy doing so because that's what they prefer, would be the obvious point to trial safe standing without to much disturbance to any supporters.
This way supporters get what they want and the atmosphere has a chance of improving, add this to moving away fans to a section either between the South Stand and Colin Bell stand or North Stand and Colin Bell Stand along with cheaper tickets where possible, and the club could go quite some way to solving the main issues of contention for supporters.
If we get designated safe standing areas fine .but what makes you so sure everyone wants to stand in the south stand and has just not been forced to stand as the standing has krept round the corners ? If you had sat there with your mates for 10 years would you stand or rellocate ? I don't know ?
Can I just say if you want standing it should be available OK but if its going to be buy a ticket for standing row f for January today I don't see how its going to change the atmosphere. If you get allocated a seat space to stand in how does this improve the atmosphere ? Arnt you just be going to get in to stand with strangers at a cheaper price ?
Or am i missing something ?

If the two singing sections get together then the atmosphere should improve a bit but you're right standing areas doesn't mean they'll sing.

If you go to aways you'll see what an atmosphere can be like.
The atmosphere at aways has little or nothing to do with standing as most people couldn't tell you if they had been sitting down standing or lying down .more to do with excessive alcohol

100% sure a standing unreserved stand would be the answer to our atmosphere problems. Also it would mean people who wanna stand are separated from those who wanna sit. Win win situation.

This is nearly Bob on. It would go a long way to sorting the atmosphere if people had to come in early to get their preferred standing spot with their mates rather than staying in the bar till the last moment / up to 10 min into the game.
I would then feel even more justified in telling people stood in front of me to fuck off to the south stand from tier 3. I"ve been nervous about falling since I landed on my head after falling 2 rows when Sergio scored.
Serious question. The seats will still be in but tipped up basically ? Each row will be allowed only xxx no of people.so basically standing in groups"bunches" won't happen as won't they want to fill each row ? So a gang of mates will just be in a line same as if they were sat ?

Persistent standing has been going on years (since we moved to the new stadium and before at Maine Road for the North Stand and AA lower)...have you considered moving to a seated part of the ground at all? Just asking. For example the second tier which isn't that much more expensive in the south stand.

Perhaps ground expansion will sort all these issues out once and for all if the club get a grip of the issue properly.

i like where i sit i have sat there for years, and its only this season that standing has been coming round to my part of the south stand. I should not have to relocate because of the selfishness of others in an all seater stadium. Me moving seats is NOT the answer

How selfish can you get. If standing has come round to your section then it seems the majority of people around you want to stand up - if it was just one or two that did it and everyone else was against they would get told to sit back down. So instead of moving to another section where you can sit down all you like, with a *slightly* different view, you'd rather force hundreds of people to sit down to keep you happy. All because of a seat that you have no real ownership of. Get a grip.

It doesn't happen like that, it is the new fans to the area who started to stand in the first six rows or so. The first six rows were the only ones that went on open sale, and after an influx of new fans to the areas nearest to the standing areas at the front, the people behind have little choice. The stewards made some effort for a few games one season, emails ,letters etc then the club gave up and it has gone from 119 aisle to 121 now which it never had bar derby day, and that stopped around the 120 half aisle.

Plenty of old people near the back miss a lot as they need to sit, but they should move to more expensive seats according to some to accommodate the newer fans from around 2011.

And how selfish are you to be so rude to someone who is stating his/her point of view. If this person wants to sit in the seat he has sat in for a number of years why can't he sit there without someone being so horrible to them.

Moving is not necessarily more expensive when expansion is completed.

If you have a complaint you should take it up with the club not people on bluemoon as we cannot control what fans do. Believe it or not most are trying to help.

Better still go down to the bottom of the block and shout "hey you lot, new fuckers, sit the fuck down, cunts"

then "where were you when we were shit and sitting down?"

Posted on this thread hours ago and still havnt seen one reason why standing would improve the atmosphere. The only thing I can think is it would attract the younger element and by creating a youff stand might be a bit noiseier .but would probably end up blue on blue with the ale money they saved like a lot of our always do.
In favour of it if people want it but don't get the atmosphere bit .maybe the two sides of the
Southstand could sing the same songs at the same time for starters. ?

yes that is a great start

The atmosphere will still be the same I think but better for the big games.

Blue on Blue isn't an everyday occurrence in my experience. Not saying it doesn't happen though.

It happened in the old days too though.

Better still start a fans group like 1894 after just getting a season ticket and demand meeting with UEFA via twitter. Got to laugh.
