Posted on this thread hours ago and still havnt seen one reason why standing would improve the atmosphere. The only thing I can think is it would attract the younger element and by creating a youff stand might be a bit noiseier .but would probably end up blue on blue with the ale money they saved like a lot of our always do.
In favour of it if people want it but don't get the atmosphere bit .maybe the two sides of the
Southstand could sing the same songs at the same time for starters. ?

you've kind of answered your own question there. You only have to look at every loud singing part of every ground in the country, its usually the standing bit. People who sit dont sing as much, dojnt know why, but that is the case in football, music gigs, lots of things tbh.

Moving is not necessarily more expensive when expansion is completed.

If you have a complaint you should take it up with the club not people on bluemoon as we cannot control what fans do. Believe it or not most are trying to help.

Better still go down to the bottom of the block and shout "hey you lot, new fuckers, sit the fuck down, c**ts"

then "where were you when we were shit and sitting down?"

Better still start a fans group like 1894 after just getting a season ticket and demand meeting with UEFA via twitter. Got to laugh.

Laugh at what?
Wouldn't laugh at anyone having a go at their ideals.BUT would question what exactly was so great in the era that they want to take us back too ?,
From my experience sat level with the corner flag on a wooden bench in platter lane .mixed in with the away fans "sitters" away standers in kippax .fights around us most games .pitch with no grass on .toilets catering etc horrendous.
Sometimes the atmosphere was great sometimes it was shit .dont forget all home singers were stood together .football wasnt on tv football was affordable .you could pay on the day .away teams brought thousands.
Couldn't tell you what makes a good atmosphere teamplaying badly is just as likely to get a crowd going even a crap ref .
Don't think safe standing will bring back a magnificent atmosphere as it wasn't ALWAYS there in the past .
Agree on reduced prices and agree on choice to stand not seen one argument that standing would improve atmosphere ?

Not sure if thats true .not sure what every other clubs policy is to persistent standing ? As all prem grounds are all seated ?.which grounds have this super atmosphere ? Have read on rawk / rag cafe no atmosphere there .no atmosphere in the holte end .Stoke seems to be dying off .that leaves crystal palace that's regually mentioned
Just reading back the previous post can we go as far as saying people in the " cheap " seats know how to have a better time ?

100% sure a standing unreserved stand would be the answer to our atmosphere problems. Also it would mean people who wanna stand are separated from those who wanna sit. Win win situation.

This is nearly Bob on. It would go a long way to sorting the atmosphere if people had to come in early to get their preferred standing spot with their mates rather than staying in the bar till the last moment / up to 10 min into the game.

Indeed.

Persistent standing has been going on years (since we moved to the new stadium and before at Maine Road for the North Stand and AA lower)...have you considered moving to a seated part of the ground at all? Just asking. For example the second tier which isn't that much more expensive in the south stand.

Perhaps ground expansion will sort all these issues out once and for all if the club get a grip of the issue properly.

i like where i sit i have sat there for years, and its only this season that standing has been coming round to my part of the south stand. I should not have to relocate because of the selfishness of others in an all seater stadium. Me moving seats is NOT the answer

How selfish can you get. If standing has come round to your section then it seems the majority of people around you want to stand up - if it was just one or two that did it and everyone else was against they would get told to sit back down. So instead of moving to another section where you can sit down all you like, with a *slightly* different view, you'd rather force hundreds of people to sit down to keep you happy. All because of a seat that you have no real ownership of. Get a grip.
if some prick stands up at the front and wont sit down then it has a knock on effect all the way up the stand .... get a grip

furthermore the majority of people that sit near the back have had their season tickets for many many years going back to Maine road where everyone was sat down !! some new kids come along and think its great to stand up at the front and piss everyone off.

i agree with what your doing, But I believe its pricing that is the biggest effect on atmosphere. young lads like me, in the 18- 25 bracket can't afford to go, its just to expensive for this group of fans. Safe standing will hopefully bring these fans together but only if its unallocated and low priced.

We are missing the local young lads that used to make the atmosphere, now the only people in the main that can afford to go are middle aged men. theres no where in the ground for people that age like there used to be, safe standing areas will help this. You only have to look at some of the away day videos to see how old our fan base is at the minute, the young vocal support is there. Focus on lowering price and it will get better imo

100% spot on.

To get rid of these "new kids" is one of the reasons a lot of fans want a safe standing area. But the way you put it you seem to prefer to hold on to your seat instead of moving it for the good of a safe standing area. That to me sounds weird and selfish.
I'm (unfortunately) live abroad but I would definitely get myself a seasonticket if there was a safe standing area. If I look at the atmosphere in the German stadiums it's much better than in England nowadays. Maybe the atmosphere to be created at Etihad by the safe standing area will get you out of your cosy seat with the spectacular view ...

Great initiative by the 1894 group. Can't be there (live abroad) but totally support this. Just the memory of me standing in the Kippax is enough to know how much better it is to stand up. Was at Southapmpton-game last Sunday and fully enjoyed standing-up (one of the main plusses you get when travvelling to awaygames). The seating area does make standing up more dangerous than it should be, so go for it!

I'm gonna side with mekon here .if he has paid his £50 to have a nice seat with his mates with a good view then thats exactly what he should get .why should some fuckwitt at the front spoil it by making the whole stand .stand up ?
Its been posted loads want it but can people being forced to stand too see the game be proof
?
Still no one has come on and stated a case for improved atmosphere with safe standing .cannot understand why would you buy a season ticket to stand .? To save money yes .agreed
Until you get a safe standing area why wreck it for others ?
Maybe missing the point but if the majority of the south stand is stood up now why is the atmosphere worse than ever ???
