if some prick stands up at the front and wont sit down then it has a knock on effect all the way up the stand .... get a grip

furthermore the majority of people that sit near the back have had their season tickets for many many years going back to Maine road where everyone was sat down !! some new kids come along and think its great to stand up at the front and piss everyone off.

To get rid of these "new kids" is one of the reasons a lot of fans want a safe standing area. But the way you put it you seem to prefer to hold on to your seat instead of moving it for the good of a safe standing area. That to me sounds weird and selfish.
I'm (unfortunately) live abroad but I would definitely get myself a seasonticket if there was a safe standing area. If I look at the atmosphere in the German stadiums it's much better than in England nowadays. Maybe the atmosphere to be created at Etihad by the safe standing area will get you out of your cosy seat with the spectacular view ...
I'm gonna side with mekon here .if he has paid his £50 to have a nice seat with his mates with a good view then thats exactly what he should get .why should some fuckwitt at the front spoil it by making the whole stand .stand up ?
Its been posted loads want it but can people being forced to stand too see the game be proof
?
Still no one has come on and stated a case for improved atmosphere with safe standing .cannot understand why would you buy a season ticket to stand .? To save money yes .agreed
Until you get a safe standing area why wreck it for others ?
Maybe missing the point but if the majority of the south stand is stood up now why is the atmosphere worse than ever ???

I agree that when you've paid for a seat and someone in front of you stands up, it can be annoying to say the least. If there's a SSA, I presume the people who like to stand up all the time will be in that particular area. The point is Mekon sounds like he is not willing to give up his seat if he was asked to move to his area to be reformed into a SSA. That's how I read it and if so, that's pretty selfish. If I misread it's because I'm foreign, you can't blame me and you can't sue me ...
If you're asking yourself will a SSA improve the atmosphere, I suggest you visit awaygames more often or find a place or channel where you can watch Bundesliga football. In between the fans in de South Stand there are still a lot who don't prefer to start singing or like to stand-up. The atmosphere in the Etihad has gone down over the years and I truly believe a SSA will improve this. That's the main reason for me to buy a seasonticket, not because of the money (I'm happy to be able to say this).

It’s not true that everyone used to sit at Maine Road. The North Stand was mostly standing from 97ish onwards. The people who preferred to stand in the North Stand were then transferred to the South Stand when we moved and continued to stand. At a guess roughly 10% of people at any home game would probably prefer to stand which in itself is justification for the introduction of safe standing. Why anyone would oppose this just because they personally would choose to sit is beyond me. It’s like opposing someone’s right to get the bus to work because they prefer the train.

AA lower in the Kippax stood too as well as the right hand side (looking at the block next to the away fans) of the North Stand

It is time the club addressed this to stop all the whinging and now bitterness towards NEW FANS. Create a standing area for the few thousand who wish to stand in peace and sing hopefully too.

I don't blame people for complaining if they want to sit however if the club won't do anything I see little choice but to relocate.

You may or may not be right about mekon he needs to clarify his stance.to compare football culture in Germany to england is just daft why not pick Italy USA Brazil every country is different.
What you dont answer is if the south stand is standing already and the atmosphere is shite how does it suddenly go brilliant if we just say you can stand ?? Isn't safe standing just standing in a row in controlled numbers using the back of the seat in front as a crash barrier .
Yes you should be able to stand in a controlled area but the guy that's paid £60 to choose a quality seat with a decent view is entitled to sit in a seated area .

So you don't want ANY fans standing? Even in a safe standing area?

I'm confused with what you want now.

A standing area would suit both what you want and what standers want. Regardless of the effect on atmosphere.

I would like to see standers .standing in a designated standing area
Sitters been allowed to sit in a designated seating area
In my opinion standing up in a line which is my understanding safe standing is would make no difference to the atmosphere as this is what is being allowed to happen now and the atmosphere is shite .
Hope this clears it up

The thing with the kippax when it was standing is you could go in there and knew what you were getting. You could have a sing song, swear without upsetting anybody and generally be a bit more 'boisterous' for want of a better word. If you wanted a more genteel atmosphere you went into the seats.

With all seater stadiums everyone is mixed in hence the lack of atmosphere and the other problems that creates. Failing safe standing then one stand needs to be designated a singing stand and the miserable silent sods moved elsewhere. It may be a bit tough but that will be the only solution if you want a better atmosphere.

Because everyone stands up in the area now regardless of if they wish too or not.
The creation of a standing area would be for those fans who 100% wish to stand up - and presumably make some noise. At the moment you have people in the South Stand who would prefer to sit and watch the game with the odd, ''Come On City'' and gentle applause (not a criticism) but are standing for most of the time. Yet there are fans in other areas who would love to be in the South Stand making noise but cant get tickets / season tickets in the area.
it is time to have a purpose built standing area and standers / sitters are properly segregated.

City could have raised the capacity at a fraction of the price they are currently spending, if they'd challenged the government's regulation and Premier League rule preventing standing.

I guess In a round about way your saying the youth went in the stand that was cheapest which was the standing stand ?so the admission price was more the driver than the actual standing up ? Are people thinking you will stand in bunches with your mates like the old days and not In CCTV monitored lines with xxx no to the row

It doesn't happen like that, it is the new fans to the area who started to stand in the first six rows or so. The first six rows were the only ones that went on open sale, and after an influx of new fans to the areas nearest to the standing areas at the front, the people behind have little choice. The stewards made some effort for a few games one season, emails ,letters etc then the club gave up and it has gone from 119 aisle to 121 now which it never had bar derby day, and that stopped around the 120 half aisle.

Plenty of old people near the back miss a lot as they need to sit, but they should move to more expensive seats according to some to accommodate the newer fans from around 2011.

Moving is not necessarily more expensive when expansion is completed.

If you have a complaint you should take it up with the club not people on bluemoon as we cannot control what fans do. Believe it or not most are trying to help.

Better still go down to the bottom of the block and shout "hey you lot, new fuckers, sit the fuck down, c**ts"

then "where were you when we were shit and sitting down?"

Better still start a fans group like 1894 after just getting a season ticket and demand meeting with UEFA via twitter. Got to laugh.

Those lads work very hard trying to improve out atmosphere and improve the match day experience. Out of their own pocket too!
