The thing with the kippax when it was standing is you could go in there and knew what you were getting. You could have a sing song, swear without upsetting anybody and generally be a bit more 'boisterous' for want of a better word. If you wanted a more genteel atmosphere you went into the seats.

With all seater stadiums everyone is mixed in hence the lack of atmosphere and the other problems that creates. Failing safe standing then one stand needs to be designated a singing stand and the miserable silent sods moved elsewhere. It may be a bit tough but that will be the only solution if you want a better atmosphere.
I guess In a round about way your saying the youth went in the stand that was cheapest which was the standing stand ?so the admission price was more the driver than the actual standing up ? Are people thinking you will stand in bunches with your mates like the old days and not In CCTV monitored lines with xxx no to the row

The old PROPER standing terraces like the old Kippax where you could roll up , pay on the turnstile , stand where you like with your mates and other lads you saw every week at the match (and knew would be like you were) and not be monitored by CCTV will never return I'm afraid. Neither will prices be as low as they were back then.

It's funny but back then it was as if everyone in the Kippax knew each other or at least OF each other. We knew the schools we went to, pubs we drank in......went to aways together on coaches or rammed into transit vans (no seats) Rammed trains full of lads. All going mad.

That's gone forever.

This is the only alternative for those lads and lasses who wish to stand at the game and not bother those who wish to sit.

Mind you when/if it does happen you'll have to moan about something else. :)

Just reminded me why the give the old lads a Horlicks and a Viagra tablet at the nursing home each night .so they sleep and don't roll out of bed !!!

To get back on the subject of the meeting.

If anyone here is PRO safe standing, please PM me and I can give you the details of the meeting.
It's free to attend.

Received some positive stuff so far!

Remember if you want to help make a change at City, every person counts!

Let me know if you want to come tomorrow - everyone is welcome.

Sorry not for me .but you should have the choice

if the club endorse a safe standing area then so be it, i dont think it would greatly improve atmosphere with safe standing. What creates atmosphere is tension on the pitch and in the stands. When manure come and other bigger teams the fans are all up for it and the opposition team generally have a chance of beating us. i dont think the atmosphere is that bad at present, we have just become spoilt as we normally steamroll teams and there isnt a great deal of tension (i prefer that way of course) Away fans come knowing they are going to get beat and generally keep quiet it just a day to watch some of the worlds best players. we are not like the European fans that get in the ground way before kick off and have someone at the bottom with a megaphone, we are just not like that. You see us at away game especially in Europe we stay in the bars as long as we can and drift to the game in our own groups. The europeans arrive en masse like its been arranged for weeks. Thats why they create and atmosphere.

we are extremely lucky to witness the worlds best week in week out.

people saying i should move seats because i dont want to stand is completely unacceptable. i sit in 120 which is pretty far round in the south stand, i chose this area because my family all sit in the same area it gives me good access to the stadium for the side of the ground i come from and the concourse is much better for meeting up before and after the game, plus my view is absolutely spot on. if people in blocks 116/117 want to stand then so be it, i think most people that moved to there felt that would happen and would be stood all game. But its now alomist in the colin bell stand.

anyway thats my view !

Earlier in the season I went to Bristol Rovers (Conference) with some relatives and they had standing terraces, and trust me, the atmosphere was electric and the place was rammed. We could really do with safe standing.

Moving closer?

I'm all for bringing standing back, held the banner against hull and constantly pushing for it.

But I can't help thinking wtf is going on seriously when you look at the pictures of the blue seat rails / safestand units. I mean we are not learning to stand all over again as we have been standing up since 9 months old, they look like lines of zimmer frames welded together. I've stood up at EDS games, rugby, lower league on normal terrace without feeling as though I was going to fall over or start a mass riot.

Ok we know eufa insist to play in their chumps league that you must have some sort of all seat stadium to be highly credited enough to play in their most gracious cup, but how patronising is it to be inprisoned in 10 ton of scaffold to watch a game of football !

Who knows the penny may drop in years to come with those loons who have set this rule.
