19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

Hopefully it's just rust. But his ball passing, placement and decision making has gone to shit.

Another sloppy performance which is just so unusual for him. The touch not quite there, the passing not on point as it usually is and just very rusty still. Got a goal which is a positive and definitely looked better in the second half so hopefully signs he's getting back to his best.

Glad Pep ‘called out’ Saturday’s performance given how gash it actually was. Gundo is class, though, and that will always shine through.

I think Gundo was pretty bad in the first 5 minutes but then seemed to grow into the role. The goal seemed the settle him.

Love him but warning signs are flashing.. at 34 years old he may not be able to shoulder the load for a full season of PL/ CL/ FAC/ CWC.

For now the plan should be to get us to January still in the hunt and then add to our roster.

Just rust imo. It's not like he's lagging behind the whole game - he's getting in the right spots at the right time, just needs to tighten up after the summer.

He’s done it before very well
We’ve all done things before we can no longer do. Life is harsh. It’s not a knock against a great player, merely the reality of his age and waning physical impact on games in a certain way.

He’s an exceptional player…in the right team and under the right circumstances. Remove those and you expose the decrements and deficiencies. That’s all.

Glad he’s back and hope he can help us pick up important silverware this season.

Not helped by the fact the whole team aren’t “at it” at the moment -apart from perhaps Gvardiol who’s been consistently excellent
