shallow and some really bad decisions in the first half. no idea how pep thought a midfield with him and lewis would work away against newcastle with rodri missing. 0 physicality.

No real surprise that he struggled physically today. It was already apparent when he left in 2023 that the pace and physicality of the game were catching him out. We brought him back to give composure and create chances in the final third, which he has done wonderfully, but we hadn’t envisaged being without de Bruyne and Rodri. He’ll be fine against weaker teams, but we’ll have to use him cleverly against the better sides.

Bringing him back was a no-brainer but he is fucking miles off the pace. I didn’t watch him in a Barca shirt so have no idea if he’s just struggling to get back up to speed, or whether this is now his level but he has been woeful since he’s returned. His 1st half today was as bad as you will ever see from someone of his ability.

Oh dear Gundo. That was bad mate.
He had to think and act faster without Rodri and we saw the results of that.
It comes of spending a season in la league facing second rate opponents every week.
A good player doesn't become poor overnight though and Gundo is a superb player. He will get up to speed without Rodri, it just might take him three or four games to do it.

He’s not made for playing against a physical midfield. He’s a control agent who requires a little space and time…neither of which he had today.

He’s another year older and another year slower, and with little pace to degrade, that’s not a good thing.

His brain gets him out of trouble IF he’s moving up to speed. If not, he looks old!

Funnily enough, whoscored.com‘s ranking had him as our third best player behind Josko and Jack. Now it got the first two right.

I think people overreact but I wouldn’t deny we are not seeing the best of Gundo at the moment. His best work this season has been coming on as a sub and helping us control the final stages of games.

I don’t think he is first XI now when every one is fit and on form but there will be plenty of games where he will be useful.

Ouch. Killed us. Hopefully that was just rustiness. If not, he has no business starting any game that is going to be competitive. It's early days in the season so willing to bet (just about) that he's rusty for now, but that was an absolute shocker today. Every time he got the ball he just fell over himself
