I get the Tevez comparisons but Alvarez seems to me a better striker of the ball, and is more two-footed than Tevez.

A formation with 3CBs will allow Pep to play together Haaland and Alvarez more often. Alvarez will be tried on the right side, too.

Can't believe how two footed he is.
Looks equally capable with either, which is a remarkable gift.

I must concede I was slightly concerned about selling both Jesus and Sterling, but this lad has put those fears to rest immediately.

except navas was awful in front of goal and one of the worst finishers we have had in the last decade (except for the odd worldie he scored like the one against spurs) and technically no where near as good as Alvarez
I think he means that he’s fast.

Navas was a useful squad player, Alvarez looks like a first team star in arguably a stronger City side...and incredibly, for the same transfer free as Navas!

That second goal was an absolute beauty, I’m thinking Alverez could score 25 league goals the guy is that good.

Settled far quicker than i imagined,he looks very comfortable and is clearly going to be a handful in this league.

He is very much a City type player.....great character and desire and bags of ability.

Said it before, but he definitely fills the void Jesus has left.

I love how full of confidence he is, those finishes yesterday (1 high into the roof of the net, 1 when he could have passed to Haaland) were the goals of someone backing themselves 100%.

The club just need to manage him carefully and not end up with another Aguero/Jesus situation, we all saw how quickly Jesus went from high flying confident youngster to nervous, frustrated wreck literally beating himself up when he missed a chance by being the backup who had to take every chance whenever Aguero was out for a fortnight.

Not to mention if he is as good as some people think, he might not settle for being the junior partner for too long.

Hopefully the 442 we played yesterday and Alvarez being more comfortable on the wing straight away will mean there's less of an overlap between them.

I’m hoping that since we don’t have all that much depth in midfield and on the wings, we can play 2 strikers and still keep the other attackers happy. Perhaps the one guy that is going to get unhappy in that situation is Mahrez, as Bernardo and Foden (when Grealish starts) might actually be the 1st and 2nd choice right sided players when it all settles down (imo). But Mahrez is of an age where I can live with that.

Exactly what we fans want to see from a player. Energy, tenacity and confidence. He looks so good in this City side, chasing everything like Tevez would and feeding balls into others and taking his chances with the confidence and instinct of Aguero. His creative instincts mean he can play off a wider area and he's going to be a great asset to this team and will give 100% regardless of where he plays. We just need to manage him because he's come over having already played a fair amount for River Plate. It's great to see someone dropping into space to play others in but also looking to get in behind, he's gelled instantly with the other players and how we look to play.

Was completely wrong about the role I thought this guy was going to play when we signed him.

Looked very tidy against Palace and looked even better last night. Took both his goals really well.

You just never know how quickly a player will settle; especially a young one arriving from another continent but this kid seems to have hit the ground running - he never bloody stops. He's just doing the things he was doing in South America. City bought him because he is seen as having a high ceiling and although it is very early days, we've seen nothing to suggest that we haven't gone and got ourselves another Argentine hero.

Be interesting to see if he makes an impact in the World Cup: I think Argentina could do well in it.
