Awful recently
Alvarez should not be a guaranteed starter. Other midfielders (new joiners and Bernado Grealish included) should be given more minutes in the center to be prepared for situations like this. He's been playing too deep lately, too far away from the box, and it's very clear that he cannot play there as he is no midfielder, besides i agree that he needs a rest, he's been looking slow on and off the ball lately.
Stats don’t always tell everything. Rat boy from the rags wouldn’t be good enough to get in our team when we have everyone fit and firing. Put him where Alvarez is for us though and he’d be producing assists for fun and plenty of goals. Wouldn’t mean he wouldn’t upset the balance of the team though and keep giving the ball away too much.Okay lets just re-examine that statement..
Why is he leading the pack here in assists so far this season?

and he's our second highest scorer too:

If anything Pep is justified by trying to play him into form as he's producing!
One of the worst first touches you’ve ever seen? You can’t have been a city fan for longThe definition of a headless chicken. Plays like an over enthusiastic 9 year old just running around aimlessly. His first touch is one of the worst I’ve ever seen and he can’t carry the ball to save his life. No spatial awareness and just slow as with decision making, and that’s generally poor anyway when he does make his mind up what to do.
Comical this thread.
We're talking about the same Julian Alvarez that's still a young, improving player, yet has already won almost every trophy in club and international football?
Awful, headless chicken... Deary me.
Has a couple of poor performances and he becomes the new FFS.
I like his high pressure when he’s closing down a keeper or defender, when he keeps doing it 25 yards from our goal line and committing fouls it’s fucking annoying. He looks like Pep just tells him ‘run around a lot’.
At least you recognise that he’s been poor for the last months or so.Comical this thread.

I agree. He's trying to operate in a position that probably doesn't suit him.The problem lies with Pep shoehorning him into a position that doesn't suit his game.
As for comparisons... Alvarez hasn't shown much that leads me to believe that he's a better player than Riyad Mahrez.
Yep, this is it. Needs to be played further forward for us to see the best of him.He is being played out of position as we have been ravaged with injuries , either comparing him to phil or calling him shit is ridiculous, he clearly is a good player , grow up people
