Comical this thread.

We're talking about the same Julian Alvarez that's still a young, improving player, yet has already won almost every trophy in club and international football?

Awful, headless chicken... Deary me.

Has a couple of poor performances and he becomes the new FFS.

He was good vs Spurs. 7 key passes and an assist.

Last night was one of the worst performances of his City career. Nothing came off for him. He lost pretty much every duel.

But he wasn't alone. The entire City attack was poor overall. Bernardo was the only half decent one out of Foden, Alvarez, Lewis and Haaland and himself.

The problem lies with Pep shoehorning him into a position that doesn't suit his game.

As for comparisons... Alvarez hasn't shown much that leads me to believe that he's a better player than Riyad Mahrez.

He looks like Pep just tells him ‘run around a lot’.
I like his high pressure when he’s closing down a keeper or defender, when he keeps doing it 25 yards from our goal line and committing fouls it’s fucking annoying.

As have been his recent performances, he’s controlling the ball further than I can kick it. Needs a rest and a recharge same as Walker.

At least you recognise that he’s been poor for the last months or so.

I agree. He's trying to operate in a position that probably doesn't suit him.

People underestimate how good Riyad was. Alvarez clearly has improvement to make to reach that level consistently.

I like him and think he's a good player but it's just so maddening how long his leash is compared to someone like Phil who clearly has a much higher ceiling. He's been poor for almost two months now, and we're still shoehorning Phil out on the wing to get Alvarez in the XI.

He is a good player but not a midfield player. He is doing a decent job covering for KDB but we do lose control with him in this position.

Last night he was not helped in anyway by having Stones/Akanji and Bernardo in midfield alongside him

Phil is a magnificent player but he always wants to be on the front foot. When Doku or Grealish play they hold the ball up which allows us to control the games

It might work putting Foden in where Julian is for a few games, he is a better passer and dribbler and could create more chances

He is being played out of position as we have been ravaged with injuries , either comparing him to phil or calling him shit is ridiculous, he clearly is a good player , grow up people
Yep, this is it. Needs to be played further forward for us to see the best of him.
