Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

I have read some shit on here over the last year or so but the way some are having a go at dejong is unbelievable
The tackle was hard but fair and only people who have never played the game at any level or have an agenda against dejong can come to the conclusion it was dangerous and reckless

yes thats quite clearly the only thing he did for the entire tournament wasnt it and obviously u must have been on the same pitch for you to have such an incitful opinion on the matter.

Yes he made a bad challenge in a world cup final but that doesnt diminish the fact he was there. To say he has absolutely no football skills as rubbish of the highest order

He does have footballing skills but he is far too aggressive when there is simply no need to be. Makélelé did what Nige does for many many years and was nowhere near as aggressive and very successful

That tackle is either with violent intent or done by someone who has no technique and intelligence, only ever going to be one outcome!

From day one I've been left wondering how De Jong gets away with playing football for a living when he has no skills to speak of. The best defenders don't slide tackle unless it's the only option, De Jong revels in pushing the boundaries of what he can get away with.
A poor quality footballer, plain and simple!

Considering your post, is your username ironic?

FYI the Dutch coach - Van Marwijk made 468 appearance in club football and also played for Holland. I think he is qualified enough hth

No, compared to De Jong, Mr McNab was a footballing genius. De Jong wouldn't score as many goals as McNab did if he played till he was 60, McNab could tackle.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Yeah because when I think of McNab and De Jong the first criteria I set by them is how many goals they score!
They were both ferociously competitive players but the key difference is that Nige - in a City shirt (before I see that fucking Alonso kick again) - doesnt go out to hurt opponents like McNab would from time to time.
I saw McNab stamp on more than one occasion. I also once witnessed him wildly lunge two-footed at an opponents knees when the ball was several yards away.

You're talking nonsense about a guy you have as your username for Christs sake. So your opinion on another player means zip to me.

(Btw, I loved McNab too. The time when he made that career-threatening, ridiculous lunge he then stood up and made the 'calm down' gesture with his hands towards Lakey who was stood, perfectly calm and perplexed, some distance away)

If I watch an odd job man botch a plumbing job, I can say he's a crap plumber without being a plumber myself, morons logic!
I saw him embarrass his nation at the world cup, players with ability in his team played some football while he and Van Bomell took their primative swipes and made some divots!

Yeah,right.
So the game plan that Holland had was entirely based around De Jong and Van Bommel was it?
The whole Dutch team were kicking everything, not just those two.

The manager, far from being brave-has shown his true character by singling out one player to get himself off the hook and take the blame for his shit tactics.
If they'd won the game do you think he'd be offering up De Jong as a convenient sacrificial lamb?
And why wait until yesterday to announce it to the world? Why not make your mind up straight after that game against Spain?

This is a media witch hunt, plain and simple.
City are near the top of the league,we have a chance, they don't like it.
Henry's challenge was far worse-but because of the implications of where we're at in the table,it's yet another stick to beat us with.
The Newcastle manager thought the tackle was fair.
The ref saw nothing wrong.
The players didn't appeal.
The pundits at the ground (Collymoron apart) saw nothing wrong.

It's twats like Adrian Durham that are stirring up the shit for their own ends.

If we'd lost the game-do you seriously believe that all this hand wringing would be happening? They'd be foaming with glee over us getting beat-the tackle would be confined to the last paragraph,in small print.

De Jong is a committed, powerful player. And a quality footballer, make no mistake. The challenge was ugly-but legal. An unfortunate accident, made by the new press "pantomime villain."

You can argue that he needs to change his tackling "style"...but then you could also argue that about Gerard,Shawcross,Essien,Scholes,Blackburn,Stoke...pretty much any player or team you like that "gets a foot in."

And the last time I looked, tackling was still legal.Football is still a contact sport.

I just don't buy into the mass media "hang draw and quarter cos it's City" bullshit.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Some absolute bollocks spouted on this forum sometimes.

Clearly we have a bunch of deluded WUMs coming on here, "city" fans who clearly dont go or say things just to go against everybody else or media sheep.

They guy is clearly a very talented player as is anybody who has played top level football in several countries and the world cup final.

De Jongs game is breaking up play, cleaning up and making tackles, on this occasion he won the ball and his TRAILING leg caught the player when he slid on a wet surface, his momentum carried him through. There was no malice intended and like most normal people have said if it was such a bad chalange why did, the refferee nor his own players appeal or even stop play.
