No skills to speak of. The boy has played in a world cup final for gods sake, how many world cup finals you played in lately as you are obviously a far superior footballer to dejong who has no skills to speak of
If I watch an odd job man botch a plumbing job, I can say he's a crap plumber without being a plumber myself, morons logic!
I saw him embarrass his nation at the world cup, players with ability in his team played some football while he and Van Bomell took their primative swipes and made some divots!
Yeah,right.
So the game plan that Holland had was entirely based around De Jong and Van Bommel was it?
The whole Dutch team were kicking everything, not just those two.
The manager, far from being brave-has shown his true character by singling out one player to get himself off the hook and take the blame for his shit tactics.
If they'd won the game do you think he'd be offering up De Jong as a convenient sacrificial lamb?
And why wait until yesterday to announce it to the world? Why not make your mind up straight after that game against Spain?
This is a media witch hunt, plain and simple.
City are near the top of the league,we have a chance, they don't like it.
Henry's challenge was far worse-but because of the implications of where we're at in the table,it's yet another stick to beat us with.
The Newcastle manager thought the tackle was fair.
The ref saw nothing wrong.
The players didn't appeal.
The pundits at the ground (Collymoron apart) saw nothing wrong.
It's twats like Adrian Durham that are stirring up the shit for their own ends.
If we'd lost the game-do you seriously believe that all this hand wringing would be happening? They'd be foaming with glee over us getting beat-the tackle would be confined to the last paragraph,in small print.
De Jong is a committed, powerful player. And a quality footballer, make no mistake. The challenge was ugly-but legal. An unfortunate accident, made by the new press "pantomime villain."
You can argue that he needs to change his tackling "style"...but then you could also argue that about Gerard,Shawcross,Essien,Scholes,Blackburn,Stoke...pretty much any player or team you like that "gets a foot in."
And the last time I looked, tackling was still legal.Football is still a contact sport.
I just don't buy into the mass media "hang draw and quarter cos it's City" bullshit.
