When he has the ball down the line id love him to just once pass the ball with his weaker foot into the space in midfield instead of running all the back and passing it to the CB or GK

Our best player since lock down , he was keeping the "best full back in the world" Dipper full back out of the England side a couple of weeks ago , brilliant player who plays with his heart on his sleeve and gives 100% everytime he pulls a shirt on. He makes mistakes , every defender does , especially the advert hoarding pusher at Klanfield , any good winger rips him to pieces.

TAA is a kid and is already better than Walker has ever been. I have no doubts Pep would swap Walker for TAA in an instant if he were given the opportunity.

Walker is a better defender

Quite possibly and Walker is probably a better header of the ball and is no doubt quicker than TAA as well but its meaningless when you look at the whole package and what each player brings to their team. TAA is as fundamental to the way they play as the likes of Salah and Mane.

People on here laud Walker not because of his football ability (he has none) but because he is fast. In some situations his pace is an asset, I have no arguments there but he spends a lot of time on the ball and does nothing with it. In addition, he has an absolute brain-fart in him that can appear at any moment, so this idea that Walker is rock-solid at the back and is a huge asset to us is just pure fantasy.

I don't have the facts and figures but I expect that he and Mendy have similar stats when it comes to mistakes that lead to an opposition goal. One is talked about on here as being the best in his position in the WORLD (laughable) and the other is ridiculed and being hounded out of the club. I am not defending Mendy but when I watch our games, I see two full backs who make mistakes, are average defenders and both absolute dump on the ball. The only major difference I see, is one has had terrible injuries and is no longer mobile and the other has been somewhat luckier in the injury department.

Both need to be replaced.

I don’t like the fact that everyone says yea he’s great apart from giving away a penalty or defended well apart from when he passed the opponent the ball and they scored. That would maybe be forgivable if he was an attacking RB but he’s not.

Walker is a defensive fullback. So he should be solid defensively always. He offers nothing in attack.

Looking forward to the return of Cancelo, think he can really challenge Walker.

Our best back 4 will be Ake-Laporte-Dias- Cancelo imo.

Ake to stay back as the defending fullback given he is actually a defender and has never made an error leading to a goal.

Cancelo to be the attacking fullback and make forward runs, he can actually cross and has the odd worldie in him. Cancelo unlike Walker has dribbling ability, can beat a defender and is also much better in possession, much much better.

With Mendy and Walker we are completely unbalanced. Walker makes forward runs sometimes, that never result in anything. Mendy stays forward all the time and crosses well every 10th attempt. Both Mendy AND Walker make simple mistakes. Gifting the opposition goals or penalties, we’ve seen it countless times. Not good enough.

Let's not go down the route of Manure fans and their obsession with pace. Pep's philosophy puts emphasis on intelligence and technique. That's why he likes Rodri and Gundogan. Given he won 198 pts over two seasons in England which even his Barca side couldn't do, why challenge his understanding of the game?

Walker is a good FB and replacing him is not a priority now but (1) he is prone to brain farts ( the latest against Lyon when he fell asleep and Leicester) and (2) he contributes as many assists in a season as some FBs provide in a single game.

Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we were a better team with Cancelo who looked changed after the lockdown.

How frequent are Walker's errors leading to goals? Give me some examples of his errors last season.

You only need to look at his mistakes in the Arsenal (FA Cup semi) and Lyon (CL QF) games last season arguably our two most important games. Terrible defending for Arsenal’s first goal and the same for Lyon’s first goal where he was nowhere to be seen.

Don’t want to bash Kyle though, I still think he’s a crucial team member just think he should be second choice behind Cancelo who offers a lot more in attack.
