You only need to look at his mistakes in the Arsenal (FA Cup semi) and Lyon (CL QF) games last season arguably our two most important games. Terrible defending for Arsenal’s first goal and the same for Lyon’s first goal where he was nowhere to be seen.

Don’t want to bash Kyle though, I still think he’s a crucial team member just think he should be second choice behind Cancelo who offers a lot more in attack.

Fair enough, agree that Cancelo offers more in attack but I don't think he's strong enough in 50/50s, his fancy flicks annoy me at times too when he does them in the right back position, just play the simple ball.

I'm a Cancelo fan too,he is far more intelligent both on and off the ball than Walker. And while he doesn't quite have the fantastic physicality,he is no lightweight in the character and mentality areas.

Given an opportunity of a sustained run,and he will prove why we spent a small fortune on him.

Walker is so inconsistent, excellent in a low-meaning game but goes abysmal the next important game, should be a squad player at best imo.

Maybe if were better centre back alongside him he would do better, just look who was playing in does games centre back.

He’s never got a real run of games at RB so think that would help him a lot, let’s see.

Quite possibly and Walker is probably a better header of the ball and is no doubt quicker than TAA as well but its meaningless when you look at the whole package and what each player brings to their team. TAA is as fundamental to the way they play as the likes of Salah and Mane.

People on here laud Walker not because of his football ability (he has none) but because he is fast. In some situations his pace is an asset, I have no arguments there but he spends a lot of time on the ball and does nothing with it. In addition, he has an absolute brain-fart in him that can appear at any moment, so this idea that Walker is rock-solid at the back and is a huge asset to us is just pure fantasy.

I don't have the facts and figures but I expect that he and Mendy have similar stats when it comes to mistakes that lead to an opposition goal. One is talked about on here as being the best in his position in the WORLD (laughable) and the other is ridiculed and being hounded out of the club. I am not defending Mendy but when I watch our games, I see two full backs who make mistakes, are average defenders and both absolute dump on the ball. The only major difference I see, is one has had terrible injuries and is no longer mobile and the other has been somewhat luckier in the injury department.

Both need to be replaced.

Walker has no football ability, i stopped reading there.

Pep trusts him, he has leadership qualities. If he can avoid brain farts, he will be perfect defensively.

Best rb in the world imo.

Just has a bad one when he has a bad one.

His game v Real Madrid might have been legendary if Pep hadn't stepped in & destroyed the team in the next round
good player but hardly the best in the world.

kyle is a hard working player, one of the most experienced members of the squad after fernandinho, been one the most consistent performers in last 4 seasons for pep and leader in the dressing room.
He has good defensive qualities - his pace to defend/cover large spaces, his heading ability and defensive contribution in the box and set pieces.
But he is a limited player higher up the pitch -can't cross and pace doesn't really help in final third because of his poor ball control in tight spaces. His contribution offensively in most games is nil.
His defensively qualities helped especially when stones,ota,delph/zinch played.
But now, pep plays with inside forwards and wing-backs have to provide the width in channels or if pep wants to play 3-4-3 in more games with back 3 of dias, ake and laporte with rodri sitting in front of them then in this situation cancelo will be the better option as an attacking wing-back.
