It was a mistake but I’m not blaming any of our defenders for anything that happened yesterday. It was all Fernandinho and Rodri’s fault, as most of their attacks were.

Our midfield have been fucking abysmal in the last game and a half.

We also can’t ask him to be both our main attacking outlet and our one defender quick enough to deal with counterattacks. Garcia was left isolated several times yesterday because Walker was upfield providing an overlap pass (but achieving very little with the ball).

Walker has very clear strengths and weaknesses. We’re not doing him any favors with our setup right now

Up there as a one on one defender I’d agree despite yesterday. Big call to say he’s the best in the league though because offensively he offers next to nothing. Wasn’t a problem when we had Sané and Sterling providing the width but it is now when we rely on our poor attacking fullbacks for width.
I winced when I saw this after that mistake yesterday, but he wasn't helped by Garcia and the midfield at all.

Yeah, he's not great going forward, but decent when he tucks in as 3rd CB or DM. Not sure why we've stopped him doing that

Walker had a few ups and downs when he came but he really transformed last year. Amazing defender. I just wish we had a copy of him on the other side.

Kyle can play as a wide Center back where he is most comfortable or as inverted side back.
But does not have the footballing aptitude to play wide attacking side back.
The biggest problem for us as pep said in a interview is that teams are lining up 5-4-1 with 1 striker marking the central midfield pivot with aggressive pressing and no space in between lines.
Last season against such teams we played with chose to play with 5 man midfield and struggled to score goals. Seeing how we lined up in the quarterfinals against lyon and yesterday it seems pep is willing to sacrifice a defender rather than a midfielder and help with attack,so wants to play with 3 man defense with lebiro/sweeper as 3-4-3 rather than go 4-2-4.
The obvious problem for is such formation is we are defending with zonal defending with no man to mark, and the players seems to be not able to adapt.

despite giving the penalty idiotically he was good, one of our better players.. no complaints about him. if everyone in the defense was as reliable as him we'd have a lot less issues.

Our best player since lock down , he was keeping the "best full back in the world" Dipper full back out of the England side a couple of weeks ago , brilliant player who plays with his heart on his sleeve and gives 100% everytime he pulls a shirt on. He makes mistakes , every defender does , especially the advert hoarding pusher at Klanfield , any good winger rips him to pieces.
