Every Kyle thread is bizarre. Ten pages of comments like this and ten pages calling him a liability and brain fart material! He definitely has his ups and downs

There are no right backs at Walker's level imo.

Some are pretty good at defending, some are good going forward ( we have one of the best, in Cancelo) but can't defend.

Walker has some brainfarts but not that many. When he has a shitter he really has one. Over a season though, he's not a problem at all, he's a huge asset.

Probably our most consistent player for a while now, whose dedication and work rate is second to none.

The same issue keeps cropping up fir walker, when he has to defend at the dar post he falls asleep.

As happened yesterday, a fross from the opposite side walker just watched the ball coming towards him, this allowed the leeds plater to run in un chalkenged for the header

It is not good enough..he cannot stand there as a defender waiting for the ball to arrive, you have to drive forward to meet the ball and clear it

Time after time the same mistakes.

He should have been a sprinter. The only time he looks remotely interested and alive is when using his pace. All of this best work comes when he can stick his chest out and show everyone how fast he is. He can’t show off when standing stationary at the far post, so he falls asleep.

He’s not alone in this way of playing, look at AWB at United, he absolutely loves a 1-on-1 so he can show off his tackling ability. He knows the fans and media will lap it up. It’s basically the one string he has to his bow, like Walker has his pace. They both have one major attribute and they both play on it as much as they can.

Some of those watching, do lap it up, others can see right through it.

What does Walker offer to the side aside pace?

He sticks his chest out on throw-ins too, don’t forget that one!

Given he is one of the few that can actually run, is pace is pretty crutial. He's not the best in the world but he's low down on the list of problems as far as I am concerned
True that, I just think when we're put under pressure by a side on attack his defensive vulnerabilities show up a lot, ultimately another gap in the backline leaving us weaker. He doesn't quite get much forward either, or well, if he does, it rarely results in anything. I would like Cancelo to get a run of games in the position

He’s been really poor so far this season.

One on one he’ll always be fine - but he’s getting caught wrong side of runners and switching off when the ball comes in from the opposite flank. It’s a trait that he’s always possessed with his lapses in concentration.

I do however think that if we dropped the liability at left back and went with Ake we’d have a much more settled back four.

Alternatively Walker comes out for Cancelo and we give that a try too.

Dias / Cancelo could well form a decent pair on the right side of defence.

Cancelo would be much better going forward.

As a defender, Zinchenko is better.
