I just don’t rate him anymore. I have slated him plenty in the match threads so I won’t repeat in here.. been great but now his obvious lack of technical ability is impacting the team

Walker's inability to play out of a press is just so glaring when you compare him to Zinchenko or Cancelo. Does Cancelo have a mistake in him like Walker does? Sure- but he brings so much more to the table than Walker does..

Not doubting the numbers and this is where stats only tell you half the story. Out of those 93 passes I bet 80 or so would be sideways, backwards and after slowing the game down
Which all our players do, it's how we are playing at the moment, pass back sideways if there's nothing on

Walker doesn't have the technical ability of Cancelo or Zinchenko but he doesn't need to. He is a solid, solid RB whose recovery pace in defense is invaluable. No other defender in the team can bail us out like he can at times.

He is never going to slot into midfield and keep things ticking over like the other two starting full-backs but that does not make him a bad right back. On top of his pace in defending he provides good width and links up with Mahrez well enough in the final third.

Only last game we saw him come on when Cancelo was struggling and perform well. There's a reason Pep is keeping him in the rotation. Against counter-attacking teams he can be crucial.

Think that Walker has deteriorated each season he has been at City.

His default tactic is to pass it backwards, or occasionally sideways to the right-sided centre back. This not only makes it easier for the opposition to regroup, it loses any chance of a counter-attack if the opposing team have attacked us.

If we are playing a back three, he may be useful. But if we are playing a game such as tonight (at home to a mid-table team), he really slows our game down.
I would be happy for him to go to his beloved Sheffield United for a small fee, at the end of the season...

Woeful 1st half. He is clueless to know what to do with the ball. Sotons 1st goal came from him losing possession for Redmond to force the save and from the corner came the pen.

For a solid, solid RB, he doesn’t half play a starring role in a host of defensive fuck ups. I love Cancelo, but what he was doing for Uniteds 2nd on Sunday I will never know, and he rightly received stick on here for it. What blew my mind was the “We should have played Walker” narrative, like Walker never makes any mistakes. At least Walker didn’t take long to nip that nonsense talk in the bud, with his disasterclass tonight.

Walker and Cancelo are both decent defenders, both are likely to make mistakes. One of them is the best right back in Europe, the other is nowhere near.

Awful first half , better second half but he isnt our best right back right now , Cancelo and Zinchenko should be our first choice full backs , Walker is a liabilty at times , he has a great attitude and bullies wingers but he isnt intelligent enough for our system/tactics he has a rush of blood to the head and it costs us at times.

Played a nice role in the build up to KDB's 2nd goal. Was also unlucky not to have an assist against United. I'm curious to see if this is a statistical blip or if he's worked on something lately.

Shocking in the first half. What the hell was he thinking when he tried the back-heel on the touchline that lead to the goal?

While his pace is a fantastic asset, his lack of footballing ability is a huge weakness for the team.

Force him onto his left and he's a liability,as either he fluffs the pass or he has no choice but to try and find Ederson.

Still, where the bigger picture is concerned.....he's been a great signing for the club

Yep. That bizarre backheel that eventually led to Soton's corner/goal pissed me off. On his day, Walker is excellent defensively, but overall he is not mistake-free.
