For a solid, solid RB, he doesn’t half play a starring role in a host of defensive fuck ups. I love Cancelo, but what he was doing for Uniteds 2nd on Sunday I will never know, and he rightly received stick on here for it. What blew my mind was the “We should have played Walker” narrative, like Walker never makes any mistakes. At least Walker didn’t take long to nip that nonsense talk in the bud, with his disasterclass tonight.Walker doesn't have the technical ability of Cancelo or Zinchenko but he doesn't need to. He is a solid, solid RB whose recovery pace in defense is invaluable. No other defender in the team can bail us out like he can at times.
He is never going to slot into midfield and keep things ticking over like the other two starting full-backs but that does not make him a bad right back. On top of his pace in defending he provides good width and links up with Mahrez well enough in the final third.
Only last game we saw him come on when Cancelo was struggling and perform well. There's a reason Pep is keeping him in the rotation. Against counter-attacking teams he can be crucial.

Walker and Cancelo are both decent defenders, both are likely to make mistakes. One of them is the best right back in Europe, the other is nowhere near.
