He isn’t just a pace merchant. He is genuinely a good defender and tackler and underrated with his passing. He’s not caught out of position, he’s the first one to press in a high pressing team AND track runners, doing two jobs in one.

What a weird target to pick for a bashing. Was one of the few to come out with even the slightest bit of credit.

He comes over to double up because he sees his team mate in trouble positionally, it's not a terrible call, if they'd snuffed it out between them as he comes charging over its suddenly a great bit of defending. Personally think staying 1v1 was the better call and then hope stones could sort his body out and get a tackle or block in but if he does that and the Palace player leaves stones on his arse they'd be questions as to why he didn't come over. We played with 3 at the back for 45 minutes we were always running the very high risk of being badly exposed, we got away with it about 4 times before they scored the second. That was in no way the thing that cost us the game.

Can never really fault Walker and when you can, I always feel slightly obliged to forgive him because of how many times during a game he actually gets us out the shit.

That video does highlight what a ledge Bernardo is, though. Absolutely knackered but doubled up his sprint to cover Walker coming across

Best player today. One absolutely shit cross that was hit as hard as an Ederson goal kick and went out near the corner flag,, but excellent other than that.

Made Ronaldo look his age in the first few minutes and never looked anything but his usual impervious best after. I hope he can carry on well into his 30's because our game will have to change entirely without him, there's no replacing him. I'm convinced he was made in a lab because he's not natural.

We need to clone his gene, make it 11 man squad and watch a genetic freak clone of him running around on whole pitch.

Sancho took somebody on down our right in the second half, looked up, saw the next man was Walker then turned back and passed it to Maguire. It’s shit like that which makes him invaluable. Wingers are shit scared of him.

Rashford - fresh off the bench - then tried it later on and was shrugged aside.

There's a growing list of wingers that have been completely neutralised by Walker.

He's a different style of defender but he's developing that Ashley Cole like aura where attacking players just don't bother with him.

Mbappé is still the most satisfying one to see struggle against him.
