Yea and he become a captain of a team this all is crazy.We played better without him last season, he threatens to leave and is suddenly back I’m the team. That’s bizarre..

You're asking the wrong blue about their thoughts on Walker. Ha.
He's a legend of the club and the English game for that matter. I respect what he's done for City but I'm in the small minority who thought it was the perfect time to move on from him. Or at most give him one more year on his deal. To give him a deal until he's 37 was madness IMO. I'm aware that he's very well-liked within the dressing room but so are a lot of lads, and I don't think we're short of leaders either- the difference is they don't end up in the papers for doing something idiotic every season.
I digress. The main reason I thought it was time to move on is solely in a sporting sense. I just think that for a team that dominates the ball as much as we do, he doesn't contribute in the buildup or attacking third enough. He's good for an overlap every now and then but how often does it lead to something? If he was more or less always brain-fart-free defensively then I could justify him being a nailed-on starter more in my eyes, but he's not. If he were, do you really think Pep would have dropped him for Akanji in arguably the biggest game of his City tenure? I don't.
As for Sunday- I admittedly think Rico Lewis DOES have a future as a fullback and far worse players than him have managed to keep Rashford quiet this season. I'll take that risk and bet on Rico to hold his own versus Rashford while reaping the benefits of more or less another midfielder to help us dominate the middle, and create chances in the attacking third(which we've struggled to do more times than not in the league thus far).

Exactly. A player like Walker who was so reliant on his pace becomes a liability once that exceptional pace is gone. And let no one tell you otherwise, it's gone. He needs to be dropped ASAP. All the praise and gratitude for his past deeds is something for when he leaves or retires. There is zero room for sentiment at this level...He's getting done one on one all the time now. Without his recovery pace he offers nothing to us.

Needs to be dropped. We played better last season when he was benched. I saw a stat the other day that he played about 50% of our games last season, and this season (after the dinner with Pep) he has been a regular starter. It’s inexplicable.

Not switched on yet again for their first, could see it a mile off. Ruben Dias is outpacing him, he hasn't lost that pace suddenly he's just not putting the work in to be switched on for 90 minutes because he's captain and we have 6 defenders at the club with 2 of them being injured more than they are available so there's no competition for places.

He has personal issues and is distracted by those. Needs to rest on the bench until they are sorted.

No worse than many of the others with his passing. Kyle had played 80plus mins by the time their winger came on, you’d expect him to be fresher.Constant missed placed passes. And he got absolutely murdered by the Palace winger for pace. Palace targeted Walker and it paid off.

All of the play was in their half...No worse than many of the others with his passing. Kyle had played 80plus mins by the time their winger came on, you’d expect him to be fresher.

I will always appreciate the pivotal role he has played in our success but it's starting to look like last summer was the absolute perfect time to let him leave.
He was benched in the first half of last season because he couldn't play the inverted role in the 3-2 system and the fact that he's not a natural centre-back meant we were playing with four centre-backs for most of the run-in.
His main strength was that he could always outpace or outmuscle whoever he came up against but he is now regularly getting skinned by wingers and his contribution in the final third is painful to watch at times.
Unfortunately with the injury records that Stones and Ake have, and the fact that we made him captain, he is currently one of the first names on the teamsheet.

I kinda agreed and was okay with it.i was almost banned for suggesting that we should have let him leave in the summer.
