I love him as a personality, but I really don't think he offers anything like enough right now.

He does put a massive shift in, and knits possession together when we have the ball, but a top quality box to box midfielder could do that while also offering a lot more at both ends of the pitch - and maybe bring some height, pace and physicality.

I think he is at a crossroads in his career. Is he an 8 or a right winger?

Hes obviously the person who will be benched when the new striker comes in, so how is he going to get back in the side? Ahead of KdB and Gundo? Or ahead of Mahrez/Sterling/Torres/Jesus/Foden as a winger?

I like him as a person, but he's just a 7/10 player in every aspect. He's not great at shooting, or passing, or dribbling(at least a meaningful dribbling going forward), defending. Like really, what does he do exceptionally well? A great role player, but I think he shouldn't be a starter.
He's good at at least two of those things you mentioned, he just doesn't get to showcase it any more. We've seen him be almost the complete midfielder two years ago. It looks like peps solution to getting him back in form this season with kev on the pitch was to use his insane work rate.

Guardiola had him playing in a rigid system with Mahrez to tie down Chelsea’s left. It kept Chilwell far back but it also meant he was far less influential. We rarely saw him doing the front running, which often sees the team press higher and faster. Playing a rigid system also meant there was far less movement across the front.

Would get rid for grealish in a heart beat
I'm not sure he's one of our few players who's very good at pressing along with jesus and foden. I wouldn't want jesus gone either despite thinking he doesn't do enough as a forward their ability to press is too valuable imo.
