His biggest problem appears to be that he is TOO versatile and can play in TOO MANY positions!
With Foden, he is the best utility attacking midfielder at the club. His energy levels are otherworldly, his contribution is far more like David Silva than Phil Foden provides, because Foden has more speed and is more dynamic than David ever was.
As others have stated, if we would simply give him A position, we could, perhaps, compare him to others. However, given the “portfolio” approach to his appearances, it’s unfair to compare him to any one player, as he can cover about 5 positions.
He is a relatively low paid, high energy, 7/10, no drama, hard working player that every club in Europe would want. He holds the ball as well as anyone in the squad, puts in more work than most, and has shown himself happy to play a bit part at times.
I think it would be a huge mistake to remove KDB’s natural relief.
I would imagine everyone on here already knew that. I even stated it when saying he is KDB’s natural relief, as KDB’s natural position is/was RM.his best position is the right side
Off course they can because there are certain things that you cannot measure with football players and their worth to a team.No they can't, they're objective data points. People can misinterpret them, but the data is what it is
Our midfield and team arguably functions better when he's in midfield instead of KDB.Bernardo is best when playing Kev's role. It is simple to see that when Kev was out with the long term injury injury Bernie flourished
Hope he stays, but he is being utilised currently as a workhorse because his fitness levels are off the chart
Mahrez will be out in the summerThe problem he’s got is that when we sign a striker this summer he’s back to being first reserve, the only spot he’s got a chance to nail down is the left sided eight, but he never looks convincing there
Mahrez ahead of him right wing
De Bruyne ahead of him for right sided eight
gundogan at left eight
sterling and foden for left wing
this could be why he’s unhappy , he knows he’s not first choice so is a squad player
hes better than that unfortunately
Even if he is we’d then need a right sided forward who can contribute double figures in goals and assists. Obviously if Sterling stayed it would be an option to see if he could find form there instead of the left but either way Bernie isn’t the answer there long term.Mahrez will be out in the summer
Our midfield and team arguably functions better when he's in midfield instead of KDB.
Gündogan Bernardo
Rodri/Ferna
Has worked really well for us. KDB somewhere in front 3 or false 9 ish. Once we get a striker KDB will be back in the middle and Bernardo yet again is just a squad player who competes with Mahrez and KDB. I can totally understand him wanting to go. He is too good to be a rotation player.
