I dont think he looked too far off last night. He had the same great first touch and turn and moved in to promising poistions but he just didnt play the right ball or it was delayed by a fraction.

The point Im trying to make is that he was getting some excellent positions, just the last hurdle to over come.

Really think he just needs a run in the team, but that’s more difficult now as he is up against Gundogan, Kev and Foden who are all playing better than him at the moment.

He is clearly a wonderful gifted player and always gives 100%, it’s just not quite coming off for him at the moment

Watched Bernardo carefully last night, and what I saw was a phenomenal amount of expended energy running back and forth across the pitch looking to be fed the pass. However, Gundogan and Fernandinho simply don't have the speed of forward pass to get him in possession. Instead of risking the forward pass, they consistently turn back and revert to stretching the play laterally. Indeed, it was only really after Gundogan was withdrawn that we saw the ball played forward more quickly, and it was Stones that was most effective in doing that. Bernardo is working between the lines that Silva used to exploit, but unless he's fed the ball quickly, there's precious little he can do.

I didn’t think he played well but I’m sure there was a great deal of his work off the ball that I missed. One thing I did note though was his post match interview. Those were sad eyes. Not the Bernie that was brilliant during our title winning season. his lack of form is taking a toll on him. I hope that there is a period this season where Pep shows the same faith he has shown in Mahrez and played him game after game after game. He needs it.

In the current Bernardo I see a player who is trying really really hard to get back into the kind of form he was in previously. He runs a lot, works hard in offense and even more so in defense, - but his confidence has obviously taken a beating for some reason, and he needs to regain that in order to be really useful for us. Cause after all he is a player whose primary function is to create, to help getting goals, - not to defend.

Has something happened in his private life we know of? Could it be the Mendy-saga which effected him? It's been so long ago.

Seeing how Stones has turned himself around I remain hopeful so could Bernardo. At his best, he made us not missing the greatest midfielder on the planet, and it would be fantastic having both of them at the same time.

Out of Foden, Laporte and Bernardo it’s the latter I could see playing if there is a surprise selection. If Gundo is injured there might be a gap for him to slot in and he’s had success at Old Trafford before. He’s a fiery little fucker and could be the legs that we need for their counter attacks.
