KDB had an OK game , everytime he picked up the ball he was driving forward , he is still not at his best some of his distribution was poor , and he assists in nearly every game
We have had few better players than KDB, that's for sure, but his shooting, passing and touch are all off at the moment and led to him losing the ball several times. He has earnt our loyalty, I accept, but on current form, his place should under threat, in my view and I speak as a huge fan of his quality, presence and commitment.

Still can't believe he decided not to shoot and to pass from there, into a crowd of 7 Southampton players.

He should have shot, but had Mahrez volleyed it in,we'd all be lauding his amazing pass and vision.

I honestly think a lot of you wouldn't know a great player if it bit you on the arse.

Not that people shouldn't have their doubts and questions but reading through some of these threads it's pretty obvious that some people can't differentiate between form and class.
In all seriousness, and I think I've said this to you before, but it's like people have forgotten all the successes we've had with Gundogan in the midfield, Bernardo on the right, Sterling on the left, Jesus up top, Ederson in goal, even Mahrez on the right. And others too probably. As soon as their form dips it's 'He'll never be good enough' or 'He should change position' or 'Get rid'. It's never normally just the one player either which should give people a hint that it's generally a larger issue.

I read the Stones thread and it's full of people eating humble pie (which ok is fair of them to admit) but it's not the first time they've done it nor will it be the last. Or even worse it's got people patting themselves on the back for not giving up on him and yet you see most of those people bashing other players not getting the irony of it all. If you want a chuckle go read the Mahrez thread from early last season when people were doing the same with him as they are now with Stones.

As you've said, it's not like we can't question a player, but there's a difference between saying a player is below their best and is complete shit and should be sold and they'll never be good enough and they were a waste of money and...

I'd imagine his place would be under threat if anyone was playing well enough to do so

The De Bruyne conundrum is that even at his worst he's still a brilliant creative player. All of our best chances came through him barring the one that he himself scuffed. It's definitely worth questioning his place I can agree but he's so productive you think maybe Pep's just trying to play him to the point he gets himself out of it, like he's done with Walker and Sterling. I suppose it's similar to people wanting Aguero for his goal presence even though he's not really the ideal fit for the way that we play.

Yep - you can fault his choice, but not the execution of his choice
Sounds crazy but I'm the opposite. I can totally see why he passed and it was a good spot but he made it difficult for Mahrez making him volley it.

We can do but what if this happened with lots of other situations.

You're first bit of the sentence was correct and all that needs saying, he should have shot.

Not just him though, the team is guilty of over-playing, passing too many times.

Unfortunately, right now Utd are showing you hit the ball first time and you have a chance of scoring.

Vision? 1v1 Against the keeper. No excuse not to shoot and pass the ball. Hoping they are watching rags Vs Leeds now.

I think that is true and I also think it is why there is a fair degree of selection consistency, deeply unpopular with some: he is trying to play certain players into form, especially given no pre-season. I was really commenting on Bernardo, who has rarely played, that I would keep him in the side for the reason you state whereas KDB has now had plenty of game time to reach his form.

I get what you mean.
