Don’t know what you were watching because he provided more spark and energy than most. He’s our best number 8 but was shifted to accommodate others. Stuck out wide right he did all he could without a fullback to overlap him. The lad has everything apart from pace so not sure what he was supposed to do with 2 on him on the touch line
The mental gymnastics not to allocate responsibility to the manager for this nonsensical shoehorning really is something to behold.

I know. Before the game looking at the team it was clear to see it was probably our best front 6 player wise but not in terms of balance. Good to see he’d learnt from Liverpool:)

He didn’t have a bad game today by any stretch but … I don’t know if it’s because he wants to leave or is just exhausted or what, but I feel like I’m watching a shadow of the player he used to be.

He works his bollocks off, he still does loads of defensive work for the midfield or goes through the motions on the wing, but I feel like the spark of magic when he has the ball has gone.

I hope Portugal go out early, he has a decent break and then Phillips can come in the second half of the season to give him more rest because if this is Bernardo’s last season I want to see him at his magical best, not the run into the ground version I think we are seeing now.
Tend to agree - it’s too strong to say he looks out of sorts, and playing him out on the wing is of course a piss take, but he’s getting more plaudits for his work rate at the moment, rather than what he does with the ball.

For such a good player that’s a bit unsatisfactory.

The fall guy,again....just like he was a couple of seasons back.

He deserves top billing, where he can do what he does best, not shoehorned into a position to accommodate others. Its no wonder he is allegedly looking elsewhere.

Despite that....my MOTM today, only player to dig deep and give his best.
If he is the fall guy, then we have too many idiots here.

Don't think he suits:

1. Right wing
2. Home games against a parked bus

He is a dynamo unlike anyone else in world football, but even Bernardo has his weaknesses.

And yet against Crystal palace 2-0 down he moved himself to right wing and changed the game.
