I've said it before and I'll repeat it. Only when this guy is gone will we truly know what we had. An utterly fearless, utterly driven player, with huge skills. Never hides, never makes waves, always works for the team. That Real Madrid game alone will be enough to cement his place in our history.
We lost one great Silva. We didn't do too badly with the other.
His performance against Liverpool at home in 18/19 is the bravest performance I've ever seen from a Manchester City player. If we are still giving out statues when he leaves that one match alone would justify it. The Real game is just the cherry on the cake.

I genuinely want to know what he is offering as a starter right now (and as of late to be honest). Goals? No. Creativity? None, I see Gvardiol doing 3-4 times more interesting and creative passes than Bernardo per game. Helping Kovacic or defense to build up play? Certainly not, I think Foden (and it's not his main responsability) touches more balls and helps more in creation per game than Bernardo. Passing it quickly and incisive in counterattacks? No.

It's not like we seem more secure in defense against quick transitions with him either. Other than running a lot and some smart pressing, there is barely anything. With no Rodri and KDB, it should be Bernardo as an anchor in our midfield, and yet our midfield is the worst part of our game every matchday.

Another ‘okay’ game. Didn’t really do anything wrong, worked hard, but didn’t really do anything that created much.

Might not be contributing much creatively. But still vital to us as the only one of the front 5 who knows how to press, and who does it well, consistently.

I thought he would go on to be one of the more creative senior players as he has aged. His work rate has unfortunately dropped (which naturally happens due to age). This may sound crazy, but he plays in a far too disciplined way for someone who is now a senior member of the team.

Bernie has never been one of our top creative players, why would it happen now?

He is our small energizer bunny who tracks back to defend and controls the ball gracefully.

I dont think he has ever been that creative for us, but he did use to shoot more, which I kind of miss.

My good friend (who is sadly a Liverpool fan) was at that game, and told me it was the single most impressive performance he'd ever seen. He had never witnessed running and skill like it. He talks about it often.

Bernardo has now played 241 games in his 8th season (cf. de Bruyne with 261 in his 10th season). To have played at this level in midfield and missed only 11 games through injury at such a time in our history is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as some of the criticism he attracts on here.
Not a lover of the statue thing but if any player in our history deserved one it's this little fella.

He has given so much in our cause, a simply magnificent footballer and what a wonderful role model for any young player.

Absolutely agree. Andy Scott won’t need much steel…

'Silva spun one of the Southampton players so much that he was still rotating several yards away as Silva took the ball away. What a player he is!'
