20 thousand empty seats?

Lets have it right, it's the rags who are obsessed with empty seats and attendances.

If that was a CL game at the swamp tonight it would have been a sell out.

I don't buy into this 'times are tough' excuse. If you're good enough you will sell out and if someone is skint then there will be someone else to fill the seat.

Thursday night on Channel 5 has shown them to be exactly what they are, glory hunting, band wagon jumping wankers.

Can't wait for this downward trend to continue, how many will be in there after 2 or 3 years without silverware? let alone 36 years.

This stage last year v Kiev we got 27k.
You really have a hard on for defending their attendee figures.

How come?

Attendences dont win games. Just think its a tad embarrassing having a go at them for get 60k. When we get 30k all the credit crunch and travel issues are brought up. When they get 60k we have a go.

Ill berate rags all day but not about Attendences.
The topic was about Utd's song about 20,000 empty seats. The subtle difference was lost on you.

bollocks this can't be true?

this game was a sell out, even not being able to get a ticket. with the 15 year waiting list with 38million people that's on it.

this massive game on channel 5 was a sell out years ago.

ok....

The rags play Bilbao, same time and place, everything the same except the competition - swap Europa with The Champs League.

You can guarantee that stadium would of been full.

Bunch of bandwaggon tourists in there with a big portion of local people who used to be big matchgoers for them having not been to watch a game in years, replaced by the entertainment seeker.

This will be us soon... Many of us priced out of the stadium, local people not affording to buy season tickets, end up losing the matchgoing habit and just watch it at home/at the pub.... Replaced by the entertainment seeker who has a bigger disposable income.

Their stadium is named a "Theatre" for a reason, The Etihad will be the same.

Indeed it would, because season ticket holders are forced to buy Champions League tickets.
