2020/21 - A New Season

It was 3 weeks ago!

Let's hope they are desperate to improve on a poor defence last season.

I could see the season over before it's started in terms of the title.
That'll be the defence that only conceded 2 more than the runaway winners of the PL. And the second best record in the PL?

I really believe covid has changed the plans. With a business mind the club might be thinking why go guns blazing when nobody knows what the new season brings. It could be stop start. No fans & lots of potential new cases over winter.

this might be a time to utilise our youth & experience players & run down peps contract.

probably still finished 2nd or worse case
top 4.

we go big 21/22 season with a new manager& lots of new top players & our youth will be better placed.

I don’t think the club have a choice & if you think it through it sets us up for the next 10 years.
If we sign Messi, Pep has to stay for the length of his contract.

I am getting increasingly concerned that we don’t seem to be upto speed for the new season. We were very erratic last year at times and since the we have lost Sane and Merlin and Fern is a year older. Ok the two new signings so far but the season kicks off in 9 days and I am not even sure many players are back.

Aguero won’t be anywhere near fit, messi and the Napoli defender transfers seem a headache! Pep is in quartabtine? We have played no pre season games and we are playing catch up straight away and Liverpool and Arsenal seem to have been in training for 3 weeks. Add in a very tough away game at wolves and I sense a poor start. We could be six points behind Liverpool in the first week.

A good post , and one I totally agree with ... we do look a bit 'dishevelled' as a club right now ... and that can only give our rivals confidence.

It isn't looking as if Messi will be going anywhere right now , at least not for another season anyway ..... City need to prepare for the start of the season as though he won't be joining us.

I thought we were according to Khaldoon, although the whole Messi situation is becoming a sideshow.

We will be fine. All the big clubs are in a similar position. Transfers all up in the air and if anything players need more rest not more pre-season games. I'd be happy to go with no warm up game. The comming season is going to run to a much tighter schedule so burn out down the line is a far bigger issue. I also have a gut feel we will be back into 80 something points to win this one. 90+ is the exception not a new normal.

We also need another back up CF. It is a certainty that Sergio Aguero will be injured during this coming season. We just can't afford to be playing Jesus every game, as this will leave him more print to getting injured.

So who should we go for as the back up striker. I do hope we can get Lionel Messi. But something inside me says that this won't happen. I hope that Pep has a plan B,to get someone else.

Don't worry, we're bringing the Goat out of retirement. We'll be sorted; )

We cannot afford as many defeats again , and certainly not one in the first two games of the season .... City cannot afford to be distracted in any way , shape, or form, from the task of winning that title back .... you snooze, you loose .. and if we don't start well, others will!

I want to win the title back from the scousers, seeing them retain it would be horrific.

As it stands I can't see us doing it, and with no pre season preparations, it's going to be a very difficult start.
Its a fair point. Especially when you factor in the heavyweight influence of unfair, and at times bizzare Var decisions.
City havent changed much, and the refs havent changed at all.
