2020/21 - A New Season

Nothing is ideal in this C19 world & it’ll broadly be the same for most clubs. It remains to be seen whether the Internationals are a good or bad thing. Personally I think it’s ridiculous.

The Lionel affair won’t derail anything. City have a world class management team across all disciplines and they’ll be covering all the bases.

The start is tricky but we’re capable of putting long winning runs together. We might have to win it on the last day of the season for the fourth time in my life time !!

Lovely.

We're dooommed!!!!
I want to win the title back from the scousers, seeing them retain it would be horrific.

As it stands I can't see us doing it, and with no pre season preparations, it's going to be a very difficult start.

There will be plenty of teams that are as 'unprepared' as we will be and I don't think we will see a season like the last 2 with just us and Liverpool going toe-to-toe.
I actually think a number of our problems last season were psychological, if we didn't score early the longer it went on the less likely it seemed and then if we conceded heads went down etc. and that got worse as the season wore on. IF we get Messi that issue goes as we will always believe we can score with him in the side.
So as many have said, new season is a reset and they will want to put the disappointments and failures of last season behind them.

Worth remembering that although it's less than 10 days until the new season the transfer window runs into October. What would normally seem like last minute panic buying is nothing of the sort this year. In terms of transfers we're still in July in terms of a normal season.

You reset in preseason, new signings etc.

Due to the Covid situation preseason does not exist, and I was hopeful on quite a shake up of the squad, so far and from all reports it's not going to happen.

Disappointing, and I hope the next 2 weeks we can make the changes we need so much.
How much resetting has anyone done so far, chelsea apart ? We've got 2 in we'll get anothet 1 or 2 before we play a game.

Every other team is in the same boat. There's still gossip around Liverpool players being shipped out and VDV not quite being at his best since lockdown, which may or may not come to pass in the full season. It's a big season for Rodri, who was always seen as needing a year to figure out the league, and Foden.

Many teams will struggle with fitness this season with lots of injuries but it's the same for everyone. I think there could be a lot of upsets so it might be entertaining. The other factor will be empty stadiums (or almost empty). It will be a freak season but the cream will rise to the top so I think us and Liverpool will be the main contenders. I think the league may be won with less than 90 points this year.

I really believe covid has changed the plans. With a business mind the club might be thinking why go guns blazing when nobody knows what the new season brings. It could be stop start. No fans & lots of potential new cases over winter.

this might be a time to utilise our youth & experience players & run down peps contract.

probably still finished 2nd or worse case
top 4.

we go big 21/22 season with a new manager& lots of new top players & our youth will be better placed.

I don’t think the club have a choice & if you think it through it sets us up for the next 10 years.
