Wire look poorly coached when it comes to having the ball beyond the 80m line. There never appears to be any attacking structure.

And for about the fifth year in a row, we’ve got no depth past Cooper and Hill in the props.

Another year where I can’t see us doing much.

Cas, as always, a decent side. Their season always depend on their injury list because Powell has always built a squad that’s as good as anyone’s but there always ends up being about 8 starting players out come the middle of the season for them.

Papenhuyzen with 4 tries in 11 mins in Melbourne v Brisbane game. Converted all 4 too.
Just watching it, he looks like something off a 1970s hillbilly film, but WHAT A PLAYER! A joy to watch!

Daryl Powell taking over in 2022 at Warrington. He should do ok.

Still seems strange that the coaches stay for the season where they currently are.

Powell has a massive rebuilding task on his hands.
14 players are off contract and many of them are past their peak and getting nearer to retirement.

In a way, it is an interesting appointment as they could have potentially gone with two coaches who have won trophies in either Wane or McDermott and I'd have been a little more worried if it had been either of them given their previous records at Wigan and Leeds respectively.

I think Powell always puts together one of the best sides in the comp at Cas with the small amount of money he can use there; however, come mid-season, Cas usually always have about 8 first choice players out injured (every year!) and are just a bit further down the table than being up challenging at the very top where their first choice would be.

Is that just bad coincidences of injuries just happening because it’s a tough contact sport, or something to do with what he implements?

Saying that, he still always has his second string high up the table!

Time will tell, but I’m more excited about Powell than I was about Price. Cas always have good set moves, structure and an idea of what they’re doing above the 80m line. Price doesn’t seem to get anything like that going at Wire, we have a lot of good deep field set moves and score a lot of tries from there, but close to the opponents try line we’ve often looked like everything’s just off the cuff under Price.

Saints too strong for Leeds, although Brad Dwyer made an exciting game for it.

Paasi making a lot of yards for Saints after Tetevano was sent off for the late high shot. Makinson a regular threat too for Saints who, overall, were below their best.

Anyone seen the new 18 year old scrum-half, Sam Walker, over at Sydney Roosters?

What a player this lad looks!

Try assist 02:31
Try 02:56

Apparently, before his debut last week, he was laying down the gameplan to the team in the changing rooms pre-game.

Remember the name!

Also, from Sydney; Jake Friend has retired with immediate effect after successive concussions
