2022 World Cup Discussion

Funny but I cannot see anywhere in the Laws of the Game anything at all about having to wear a specific type of captains armband. All it says is that the captain has to wear one. Be interesting to see what would happen if anyone thought to appeal said yellow cards

I wonder what the cricketers will be doing in Pakistan in December? Sky will cover the cricket with no mention of human rights, LGBT, systemic subordination of women, violence against women almost an obligation, religious intolerance, extra judicial killings of non-Muslims, forced conversions especially of young girls and different laws for different faiths.

When I asked the first question I rather suspect the answer will be, given what they did last month when they went, and the complete lack of ‘media outrage‘ that followed, I’d imagine they’ll just be playing cricket.
I might have missed but I don’t think the England rugby union team did any display ahead of the New Zealand game.

From Wikipedia: Transgender and non-binary people in New Zealand face discrimination in several aspects of their lives. The law is unclear on the legal status of discrimination based on gender identity, and also for intersex people.

And that’s before you even get to New Zealand’s status as an oppressive colonial entity.

Any nation on Earth can find fault with any other. Probably best just to play the game and ignore the other stuff for the duration.

Wits the chances of this the next couple of weeks.

They’ll be tournament rules too, though. For example, they wouldn’t want armbands advertising rival beer brands or fast food.

Absolutely. If they feel that strongly about it and really want to protest, Iran will win 3-0 today as England will stay away from the ground.

Based on his record for England, he's right up there with the best we've ever had - even if we go out early in Qatar.
Can’t remember too many other England managers who have lost three World Cup matches in the same tournament!
Can’t remember many who have lost a home euro final at Wembley either
Right up there

It's more the 6500 dead slaves that bothers me.

Wasn't paying attention yesterday but that bbc opening titles sequence is piss poor. Italia 90 it is not.

They are trying to downplay it whilst still keeping their heads in the trough, I see the pundits in the studio are questioning Englands decision to not brand Kane with the rainbow armband whilst they themselves (For a change) haven't got a badge of any kind on.

Waiting for England to take a knee and the Qatari space cadets to aim their stormtroopers at them :O

But Alex Scott is wearing it out on the pitch before the game. Where are the male pundits? Why only female ones on the pitch?

Sounds to me like flogging a dead horse
