2022 World Cup Discussion

I think its becoming clear that southgate just doesnt like him. Whether its because he has stripes in his hair or lingering resentment from the iceland escapade. It cant be based on ability.
It's impossible to analyse a plank, no emotion , no thoughts to process, no movement unless pushed. It just does the same thing again and again.

I think its also southgate sees foden as a flair player even though hes shown under 4 season of playing for pep, he can follow instruction from the best tactical coach ever to the letter.
southgate is a coward and is so risk averse he sees any player with an ounce of skill as a maverick who cant be trusted.

Something in Southgates excuse did not add up. For any other top team in World football he would be a nailed on starter.

The question is does he now bow to media and pundit pressure and drop either Stirling or Sako, or do a U turn and play him elsewhere. Or stick to his guns and say Wales is not a game for Phil.
He doesn’t like risk takers, if Kev was English he’d have 10 caps & all in friendlies, he’s already converted one of the best box to box midfielders in world football to a DM, it’s quite clear he was hanging on to the draw & Tuesday will pretty much be the same, we’ll probably limp into the next round with no momentum, and if we get through the last 16 it will be on pens, the first really decent outfit we play we’ll be out….one of Saka or Sterling (probably both) should of been hooked at HT yesterday, both offered nothing going forward & gave very little cover to their full backs, instead he waited past 65mins to change it after we’d been battered for 15mins. As for Tuesday he’ll probably make one change, Rashford for Saka

Nah tuesdays change is henderson or phillips for bellingham.

Despite being against Southgate’s preferred starting 11, think the FA will buckle under the media pressure and instruct Yesman to start Phil.

Really? I hope you’re right but I’d be surprised. If he does get on, imho it will be as a wide man who is told to stay out wide probably, which will be under utilising his talents.

But, when all’s said and done, it’s not City we are talking about here, so my level of being bothered currently stands at about 60%

Love our argies but their fans are some of the worse in football

The Argentina fans sang: “Spread the word, they play in France but are all from Angola. How beautiful, they are going to run.

They like transvestites like that wh*re Mbappé. His mother is Nigerian, his father is Cameroonian, but on the document, he has French nationality"

i am truly shocked that Phil Foden does not start or even come off the bench the other day
he's the best young talent England have, then southgate comes out and says we don't think Foden can play in the middle ? what you're a fucking clueless fucker, you should be building a team around Foden and bench others

It’s amazing how Lineker is revered and hated in equal measure.

The ceremony was on iPlayer (and probably still is), so if anyone was desperate to see it, it is still there.

This whole scenario is playing out because of preconceived hatred of the BBC and Lineker, not because people didn’t get to watch the opening ceremony.

Granted, it could have been avoided by Lineker simply apologising and saying that if you want to see the ceremony, it’s on the iPlayer, but it’s been blown out of all proportion.

The only time opening ceremonies have ever been mentioned at world cups is because they’re shite and they wished the football would start already.

Can anyone remember any other ceremony bar Diana Ross doing an impression of Marcus Rashford taking a penalty?
There was 500 of the worlds fittest models prancing up a Catwalk in Italia 90, that made an impression on this then 14 year old. But take your point :)

I don't see Phil starting against Wales, because if he plays a blinder, and he will, Southgate will have been proved wrong
