I am confused now is it acceptable to enjoy something that has been part of my life for more that 60 years? Please advise me.Just have to accept the fact that many people put more importance on their own enjoyment than they do on the welfare of animals.
They're unlikely to admit this of course.
"Are youze luchhhhin at me tits, ya deeerty fuchhhha?Scouseland saw them all dressed up on news this morning, orange women with shite accents and a daft hat

It is not NH racing per se, for me it is the occasion and the history of the event. It is the history and the occasion where the "housewifes" can have a once a year flutter.Of course it is. Nothing to do with me and I can't recall saying that people shouldn't enjoy NH racing or the National in particular.
Just saying that if those who enjoy NH racing were honest they would admit that their enjoyment of horse racing is more important to them than the welfare of the horses.
Fair enough, their choice. Not for me though.
Sadly that is correct, but as somebody pointed out, many owners don't actually make money over the course of the season. If they can cover their costs, then that would be an achievement. Anything else would be a bonus. Two more killed at Aintree today. Not to worry, I'm sure they made their owners a packet.

Seems to me that this is being stripped away.
The occasion is being weponised in order to suggest that anyone who takes an interest in the race is somehow agreeing with cruelty to horses. How is it being stripped away? Its actually happening as we speak.

I have no problem with the national and lost my usual tenner, not sure that’s the greatest argument about the welfare side though. Some people happen to have died at football matches hardly comparabld.Any improvements that help prevent horse fatalities has to be a good thing. For all the animal welfare arguments, where does it stop?
Maybe football should be stopped? How many people have died going to games? It is life, nothing is perfect get on with it enjoy whatever you enjoy and stop being a do gooder.
...and it's goodnight from you ;-)A couple of posters including me ain't changing shit and horse racing ain't going anywhere.
Relax you can fully enjoy Ronnie Corbett working a horse to death for many a year yet. :-)
