I have followed him since he was 17 and I think these are his main qualities: technically excellent and can use both feet; good dribbling skills and can beat a man and then deliver, quickly, before the opponent can respond; good crosser and passer of the ball and can finish with both feet. In all those areas, I believe he is superior to Leroy. What he cannot match, and very few in world football can, is Leroy's pace and athleticism which made Leroy such a dangerous foe. Now most teams sit back in banks of four, I think that Ferran will be more successful for us than Leroy would have been.

What about attitude? Sane obviously riled both his club & national managers. As a result, he didn’t play as many games as he should have done. He’s now on the injury conveyor belt. Ferran is younger & according to most reports, is a great prospect

I think Ferran definitely has an edge to his personality, you can see that from his exit from Valencia, first asking to be captain when they sold off Parejo, and then coming out and calling out the bullshit Valencia said about his departure.

He's clearly not going to be pushed around and backs himself. Taking 21 after Silva shows that as well.

Watching him tonight he’s either not fit enough still or doesn’t like to take on his man. He’s been put through one on one with the fullback on numerous occasions and has played it inside or come back to play it safe. Hope he is braver for us this season. On a positive note he always looks to get in the six yard box when the balls coming down the opposite flank and rarely gives it away.

as a team depending on one-touch fast interplay, the
almost telepathic play required needs time to acquire,
hope he gets it quickly. The rewards will be great....

Perhaps just the tactics but also he's more effective on the right

I thought he played very well on the night, showed a bit of everything in his toolbox - even shifting into a more central role. Still think he ultimately shows the usual in a young player, not quite the protagonist or aggressive enough as he can be to finish a scoring action. His touch let him down a couple of times but overall he's such an elegant dribbler that ultimately he has a lot of upside - but it underscores the reality that he is far from a finished product, more a work in progress

Get him starting over Mahrez and it will be one step in the right direction in getting us looking our best again.

Torres and Sterling on the wings offers us pace and directness which we haven’t had since Sane got injured.
