Wasn't like that with Spain. Has to be the team setup and/or manager instruction

I wouldn't agree. He's the same type of player for Spain regardless of his promising numbers. He has good instincts in front of goal but there's really just not alot to his game.

Did really well on the wing in the Euros. Consistently put threatening balls into the box - something that we rarely if ever saw from him last season.

Can't read too much into that beyond it wasn't his best day at the office.

Have to agree with you mate, he flatters to deceive and IMO for what its worth I cant see him ever being a first class player at City.
I will be more than happy to be proven wrong.

He did put in some threatenin balls but his overall game still lacked in several key areas. He's a player that can be useful but I don't see anything more from him.

This is the truth.

He had some great moments, but was also inconsistent and a tad unreliable.

I'm not sure anyone, including him, knows his best position yet

Torres is a strange player. He looks like a deadly finisher when he gets a chance but he never seems to get into the right positions. Perhaps it is our tactical set-up or perhaps his spatial awareness on the field is not very good. He just doesn't seem to have the instinct for being in right place at the right time. He seems to vanish in matches but he is not lazy in my view. He does lots of running but a lot of it seems aimless. It is baffling to watch.

Still got time on his side and to be honest in a side as inexperienced as that, it would have been a surprise to see him excel. He struggles to stay in games even when surrounded by the full first team so today was always going to be a big ask. He needs to improve this season though but how many chances he will get now is debatable.

an enigma, Newcastle away showed what he can do but he has to find it within himself to understand his game and maximise his plus points. At the moment he's just a bit "default stats" where he's half decent at most things, rather than seeing the development to being exceptional at certain unique traits that offer us something different.

I like him but need to see the development.

Doesn't do anything does he? Just has no impact on games. I jokingly asked just after kick off will torres' touch count reach double figures first half, I'd be surprised if it actually did before he was subbed off.

You can't even ever say hes been poor because he simply isn't invovled enough to come to that conclusion.
