Has a decent game every three matches , which isnt enough , would rather have Cancelo . Zinchenko or even Ake before Mendy , loan him out and get his wages off the bill he isnt going to improve now , he has had his chances and that fucking hair cut , you might get a way with it if your a decent player , but he looked like a clown , very apt.
The modern day player spends more time in his barbers than on the training pitch improving his game .

I know people don’t like to hear this kind of thing because ultimately he’s paid handsomely by MCFC but I’m starting to think he’s stopped playing for Pep. He’s done and it shows in the way he’s playing and his body language when Pep rollicks him. He seems to have lost all the fun of playing the game. I think he’s one of those players on Pep’s naughty step and once you’re there it’s a bad place to be. Not excusing his performances at all but i’ll be interested to see how he goes under a different manager either here or elsewhere.

But he doesn't even look like he was ever a quality player.

Yes Pep looked livid with him few times, more so than with other players for similar mistakes.

Well he can thank Txiki for the whole LB situation. We had Clichy/Kolarov for years, since then Txiki still did not sort it out.

He was a quality player. Difficult to believe but watch any clips of him at Marseille or Monaco. The injuries have quite literally knee capped him.

If that should affect your ability to pass the ball or control it is another matter but we need a physical LB and he isn't going to be that. Even if his passing was crisp or his control was bang on it would be pointless, just another Zinchenko. Both need to be sold and replaced, we need a LB version of Walker, if they can cross the ball then great. Otherwise just being a persistent physical threat on the left would help us out.

Just don’t see the connection between what you quoted and what you asked.

To answer your question though, I don’t think it’s anywhere near that simple. Mendy is very inconsistent but despite that he’s still then best option we have in that position.

Is there better out there? Most definitely.

Is there better available? Also Yes.

however, we spent big on Mendy, his injuries means no club is going to be willing to take a punt on him for anywhere near what would be deemed an acceptable fee, we can’t just release him and write him off no matter how much fans would want that so we’re forced to try and get him fit, get him playing regularly and hope he can put his injuries behind him and become a valuable asset to us, be that as a player or through a sale.
