Probably not wise to wax lyrical about a new signing after a couple of games but you can see why he was coveted throughout europe as one of the best young defenders around , sorry to see Laporte on the move he was briliant for us , but this lad certainly looks the part so far.
Loving his play so far.
So good on the ball, his ball control is almost on the level of a midfielder.
Very accurate passer as well.
The most important thing he has to work on right now, that will elevate him to world class status is that he is weak in the air. He was at Leipzig as well.
Maybe weak is the wrong word, just below average I guess.
Every other defensive aspect is really good, he is good at 1v1 "Read Defending" where he matches the dribblers pace and stops getting beat.
His Slide tackling is on point as well.
Just in the air. Improve there please.

Was going to make the same point. He stays patient and as soon as Wilson takes a slightly longer touch.. he strikes and disrupts the dribble. Brilliant.That tackle gets better with every viewing. stopped a near certain goal

I reckon Mahrez’s best season was 2021-22.Mahrez's best season was actually his 2nd season (19/20).
I think he was actually better in 2020-21 than 2019-20 despite having a lower number of goals and assists that season compared to 19-20. I thought his big game performances were excellent in 20-21, especially those semis against Paris.
There we’re a few runs of form in 2019-20 where he was stinking the place out. That performance against Wolves at home (lost 0-2) was that bad Pep dropped him for about five games after that.

A few dodgy passes but really good overall. I was really impressed with his weak foot ability.

He actually had me questioning whether he was right-footed at certain points. Not just the passing, but he was dribbling into space off his right foot too, which is unusual with the weaker pegA few dodgy passes but really good overall. I was really impressed with his weak foot ability.

Those passes at 1:06 and 2:43 are just casually brilliant.He actually had me questioning whether he was right-footed at certain points. Not just the passing, but he was dribbling into space off his right foot too, which is unusual with the weaker peg
