I dont see why he cant play the rodri role in the future. He has a lot of tactical learning if he was to play there but he has the football skillset. Will be a superb cb Maybe the stones role.
I say with that finishing we play him as striker.

But seriously, I think with his ability, I'd expect eventually we'd explore more tactical options with him. Especially if Pep continues. Maybe not even Rodri or the Stones role, Pep might even come up with the 'Gvardiol role'.

yeah fan girl, croatian bias, patronizing me when i posted facts and so on. it’s not even me, it’s all the comments made by football professionals all over the world about him. he was never average.

i don’t know if any of you noticed earlier in the season how strong mentally he is. shaky start at the swamp, error leading to a goal at stamford bridge, he didn’t fall apart he played better immediately after in both games.
aftet the argentina game in qatar he decided he’s coming home with a medal and caused hell in the opp box.

now he’s showing up game after game when losing isn’t an option.
Hello Vanci, do you think Mrs Kovacic would be a good Rodri understudy?

I'm kidding mate. It was a pop at those, that are always too quick judge.
He's got the making of a world class midfielder, for me. Definitely don't see him finishing his lot as a defender. There's just to much talent in him for that.
That makes more sense. Yes he is properly talented. Football is evolving but his ability on the ball would only be fully appreciated at a certain number of clubs. For him and us its a marriage made in heaven

That first goal... wow! I never thought that Josko had it in him. And that pass from KDB bobbled up almost to knee level - great first touch to get that under control.

That goal was absolutely quality, the movement in behind, the first touch and then composure to not rush a shot but look to carry the ball and commit the keeper and then just slide it in. Wonderful.

Josko sort of reminds me of Larry Bird of US basketball fame. Bird seemed to be slow and not particularly athletic, but he'd absolutely kill the opposition game after game. Josko has that sort of deceptive quality to his game.

Another player teaching us to always be patient with new arrivals.
I haven't been following his performance thread, but have been slagging him off? I think he's had an outrageously good first season given the injuries to the defence.

I think the bigger lesson is "play him in the right position" is not really a smart analysis for Pep's City.

The only issue tonight was him not closing down Johnson quickly enough on a couple of occasions. Other than that another fantastic performance.

Who knew he would become the best LB in the prem?
