That's because there isn't. It's the definition of fake news.

Instead of playing it by ear and using his eyes, Pep suddenly saw his age and thought 'Hey! he can't be playing anymore!' or however the fuck you'd say that in Catalan.

He was excellent last season in a role he'd never played before. Almost anytime he's played midfield since, he's barely skipped a beat. Pep has massively cocked up here by pre-empting the situation, and has paid for it.

I thought some of his passing tonight was well off but the main complaint I hear about Fern these days is that he is too old/slow. I don’t see this at all, he is still our most mobile CDM.

Watching him stride forward with the ball and creating from the left wing is not something we are likely to see too often from Rodri or Gundogan.

He still has the pace, passing, tackling, and intelligence needed to play in our midfield if his minutes are managed and he is only used in the cups or one match per week. I feel like he deserves a contract extension.
