When Fernandinho signed for City Manuel Pellegrini wasn't even manager, but his arrival as manager was imminent. It was Txiki Begiristain and KAM who persuaded Fernandinho to sign and Ferno was so keen to sign that he stumped up 4m of his own money to come to City as the transfer fee was complicated and protracted. He signed for the 'bigger picture' knowing Pellegrini was only keeping the seat warm as interim boss until Pep arrived.

To think a player came because he knew the new Manager (just hired for his great job at a previous stop) was simply just a caretaker Manager waiting for Pep. That's some serious revisionist history and self delusion.



Who else was in on this? Jovetic? Negredo? Garcia? Fernando? Mangala? Navas? Did they all also know this about the manager or was it kept from them?


There is the false (albeit plausible) story that Pep signed of on Kev and Sterling. I think even that is dubious.

Kev was the best assist man for 3 years running in the whole of Europe and Raheem was the best young player in England. Both were no brainers for any team able to get them.

These are not players managers need to sign off on. And certainly not the manager of another club. I don't give a damn what his future plans were. Every Manager would have wanted both. But the plausible (Pep signed off) persists and it's understandable.


One can forgive believing that. But believing Dihno came because of Pep bothers on delusion.

A) There's zero physical evidence Fernandinho signed in 2013 because he knew Pep was coming. Not saying you're wrong but it's on you to actually prove it's true. Dax is right to question it.
