i think the equaliser was Stones fault (70% Rodri). Yesterday he didn`t make a mistake & was solid in every departement. City got what they paid for. An average-good defender for a moderate price.

It’s not like we City fans don’t know what a top-class CB looks like, we’ve had plenty of them over the past 10 years and we still have 3 of them at the club now. How people are getting excited over a guy who has been in England for a decade, and has only managed to hold down a regular place at Watford and Bournemouth is beyond me. He is a top 6 CB…before you and others lose your mind over this…which rival is putting him in their best XI? He doesn’t get in Arsenals team, he doesn’t get in Liverpools, he doesn’t get in Chelseas, he doesn’t get in Uniteds and with Newcastles defensive record I doubt even they put him in. Yet here we are at City, the supposed best side in the world playing him nearly every week and to make it even worse we are playing him alongside the 5th choice CB. It’s borderline self-sabotage and plenty on here are celebrating it.

Fine rant. I didn't lay any claim that he was the best in the premier league. I simply said of our 4, on form he is the best just now. Dias? plays a game he knows will exacerbate an injury and risk making him unavailable to his employer. John? Mostly good but has more defensive lapses than Ake and needs a consistent partner to be his best. Are you claiming that Akanji is better?
None of them have looked top this season mainly thanks to the fact that there is no consistency.

Explain why Stones and not Akanji, who went with the decoy run instead of engaging Grey, who scored even after slipping, although to be fair, and I might be being harsh here, I thought Eddie could have made more of an effort, as he didn't even dive.

Apologies it wasn’t meant as a rant. I’m just tired of watching Keystone Cops at the back, only to come on here and read how well Ake is playing. For what its worth, I thought Ake was very good in the 1st half yesterday, but then again he didn’t have any defending to do. They all look comfortable when the opposition don’t enter our half.

I am not claiming Akanji is better or worse, for me it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other. I agree that consistency (or lack of) in selection is the big issue. If there was the consistency, Ake and Akanji would barely get a game and therein lies the current problem.
 
I was at the game and didn’t think Akanji did a lot wrong yesterday. Teams will have chances against us. I seem to remember Stones getting a lot of stick in the past.

Not saying Akanji is world class but he fits our style of play. Yesterday was down to a poor team performance.

A quality rant and like most rants full of shit.

Ranting on about Ake being in the team and ranting about CB's but Ake played LB.

Also, you may know top CB's but do you recognise when they are bang out of form?

Laporte after his opening season dipped, recovered and then dipped, Dias brilliant first season but has never been as good as that again.
Stones is the best CB we have but is also prone to form dips and all three are susceptible to injuries.

Ake came into the side at the end of last season and played very well, he has played well this season at a mix of CB/LB had a great WC and you come on here ranting like a **** after a 1-1 draw with Everton lol

Balls, fucking grow some ffs.
