Commanding. Big. Quick. Strong. Great defender!? ... Proper centre half. Looks our best centre half now and I thought he looked like peak Vinnie myself at times. Class
I’ve not really noticed his defending yet as he’s not needed to do much of it.

He‘s been far better on the ball than Vinny was so far though!

I think he did some good defending today. Reading the play and snuffing it out. I thought it was a very big all round performance from him today, hence a slight bid to Vinnie

I agree with you but I'd rate Stones #5 just because of his injury record and even that would be scary because of how good Johnny Boulders can be!

That's one way to look at it. If he could stay fit, I think he could be #1.

Akanji has possibly put a very big fly in the ointment though.

It's early days for him at City but physically, technically and intellectually his abilities are clear so it becomes about consistency and how he fars against better opponents. He's arrived at a very good age for a centre back and may have a level of expereince and maturity that means we have got a very good CB but not a lot of money.

It was just the thought I had when he came away with the ball after leaving a Rag pondering where he had gone. But he needs to whack one in from outside the area aka John Stones and Vinny K, and then I'd let him stay! Oh, and he ignored me on a corner when I said 'Bullet header, Manny!' Let's not forget Vinnie's bullet on HT!

I absolutely loved how he stepped up to to stop the counter( from a Grealish mis pass? ), then didn't stop there, just made himself available for a forward pass for the buildup to the first goal. Intelligent and strong !

He's had a great start to his city career but it's disrespectful to Dias (who was a monster in his first season - with no injuries) to say he's better than him.

I like what I see but he needs to do this game after game, particularly when the real pressure is on from Jan - May.

Obviously I want him to and he's a brilliant addition, I just hate how fickle everybody is about our other CBs who've helped us to win so many trophies and are still absolutely top class.

yeah Ruben still number 1 for me but Akanji at the minute is the guy to play alongside him no doubt.
