True. But Akanji is a far more consistent player. I think his price range not being 60 something million has left many confused as to his value.

Akanji is on par with any CB in the Pep era for consistency. Not as good as some at their peaks. But overall he has been more consistent than most and overall on average as good as anyone...


And I mean anyone! Including all the legends.

Fine lines. He was magnificent apart from that one moment. The problem is, that one moment nearly cost us the title.

He has probably been our best CB this season and won’t be defined by one error.

He was immense for every second but one in that game, would have been cruel if that cost us. The recovery pace shown a few times on the cover is unreal. Best defender this season.

him and ake keeping stones and Dias out of the side is one of the most pleasing things to see this season for me, not because i want to see those out of the team or anything just because it shows how valuable competition for places is and is an example of how players who might find themselves on the periphery for a bit can make themselves a vital cog with consistency, it's great for the entire squad to know if you take your chances you'll be rewarded fairly.
