I've liked him since day one but I thought the biggest weakness in his game was his aggression in one on one duels. Kind of reminded me of a young John Stones in that regard.

Anyway, that seemed to change around the time he decided he wasn't going to take shit off Jordan Henderson and Callum Wilson.

He's been a really shrewd purchase.

A good backup, but he has been very average this season. Had a good game or two, but the rest has been very average at best.

He was our best player today. Done well for the most part and helped us out in crucial defensive moments

fell asleep for that hee Chan goal and stood still ball watching
I've said this before but Akanji is the absolute best example I can think of in recent times when it comes to showing how important 'mentality' is in a player.

He's the same way with Switzerland. He's got ALL of the tools in my eyes to be an absolute world-class CB. Pace to burn, is good with both feet, decent eye for a pass, etc....... but he lacks urgency far too often, and in a team that is susceptible to counterattacks, it's far more obvious. Just as Pep did in the CL final versus Inter, I think he'd benefit us far more at RB over Walker. Is he that much slower than Walker that he'd be a detriment versus counters? IMO absolutely not. I'd argue he's even faster over long distances at this point in their careers.

Think he was asked to try and do the Stones role today and it shows how good Stones is at it. Such a difficult role to do.

He’s a handy to player to have though and covers the whole back line. With everyone fit and Gvardiol settled, you’d think he would be the one to miss out along with Ake. However, it’s a rarity that everyone is always available which makes players like Akanji and Ake that can fit in at full back, centre back and being decent on the ball very important over the course of the season.

He seems to cost us a goal every other game. Comfortably the most error-prone defender we've signed for years.

bad error for goal, harsh sending off but not devastated he can't play in the next game.

Well that red card might just see Pep sort the team out Akanji is just not good enough shame but not every player City buy is going to fit in

Oh, brother...

In what world was their goal his fault?

If he doesn't stretch out to try and intercept the ball, people would kill him for that. Walker got absolutely skinned.
