Hope not, because Aké is better option. Pep will play Aké before certainly.
Having a left back who simply defends would be fine when we had an out and out left winger who would provide width and beat fullbacks regularly. We now have one who basically plays as a 2nd striker and creates very little so could do with a fullback who can add something to attacks. Hopefully Cancelo can do that and against the top sides Ake can be an option when the emphasis is on us to be more solid. We currently have a left back who adds little at even end of the pitch.

Made more tackles (4) and interceptions (3) than anyone else on either team, and no one played more key passes than him (3).

Obviously stats aren’t everything and he’s still extremely suspect when it comes to players running in behind him, but by no stretch of the imagination did he have a bad game today.

Should play more. Had 3 dribls and few interceptions. Better RW than Mahrez ofc. Hope he'll get proper treatment.

Agree. He did a lot of good stuff but also made as many errors. His positing for a new role was decent and he got on the ball a lot. Just needs to know when to keep it simple. Tried a few times to be fancy and ended up gifting arsenal a break. Might be a better option on the wing.

He reads the game really well when the action is in front of him. He stepped in to make good interceptions and some of his one or two-touch play in tight spaces was excellent.

But as you say, he’s still a bit prone to making poor decisions at times and switches off badly when players are moving behind him.

I do think his versatility will be a huge asset this season though.

Shocking defender, good going forward.

This, absolute this! At times I'm simply amazed at how terribly he defends. Sometimes it is to the extent that he'd rather lazily foul than defend. Had some good moments, dare I say maybe actually a good game, but I find myself shaking my head often at his defending.
