At one point yesterday, 15 minutes in, 0-0, Cancelo tried to nutmeg someone needlessly on the edge of our box, lost the ball and Monchengladbach had a clear shot at goal 1v1 with Ederson.

We got really luck and the BMO player scuffed his shot completely and Ederson saved it, but it was a massive cockup that a better side would have punished and I can't help but feel Cancelo is dropping one of those a game, and it's just a matter of time before he costs us in a big game.

He has so much potential, but needs to keep things simple like Pep said.

There are a few elements to his game that are going to drive people round the twist. Theres two that really frustrate me:

1. His tendency to overplay in and around our box. I am not saying he should hoof it, that isn't what we do. But the little flicks with the outside of his foot etc are over-confidence, bordering on arrogance. Its not needed.
2. His fake headers. You know, the one where he jumps to head it, but has absolutely no intention of messing up his hair.

However, the positives far outweigh the negatives. He is comfortably our best right back and left back, and offers so much to the side in an attacking sense.

I love him.

He barely played last year, and we were pretty shit first quarter of this season. Imagine him with a proper summer and more time with Pep.

This a billion times over, so much upside but if I’m honest, he scares me when in possession in our own half, takes too many risks.

Not his best game against the Germans gave the ball away more than usual , and a better team would have punished us , brilliant footballer but is complacent at times , but love his arrogance and cockiness nice to see a player with personality and a bit of attitude.

Yeah in the match thread I posted about how that was actually a VERY good chance for BM.

Cancelo's potential is super high, but he needs to cut out these needless mistakes.

I love the way he plays. He takes risks, takes people on and can see a pass nearly as well as Kev. If Phil buried that chance from the through ball it would have been one of the assists of the season. However as others have said he sometimes drops a bollock, they have not yet hurt us but may do in future so he needs to try and eliminate them from his game. Best fullback in Europe though

He was shit tonight and Pep rightfull called him out post match.

Zinchenko is a better left back and would have done a lot more to help Rodri and Gundogan in midfield too.
