He's up there but he was dreadful this last game against Spurs, his crossing/passing was one of the poorest I've seen and maybe that's one of the main reasons they conceded 2 points.

He was uncharacteristically decent defensively against Spurs though. Although not as good as the previously hopeless Emerson Royal for Spurs, who played like Carlos Alberto at Anfield, God bless him

Well let's hope that teams realise that and really get at him. Hopefully feeling the
pressure.

He does supply some great crosses for their forwards but isn't happy when forced onto defence, and that's where he gets exposed.

I was being sarcastic btw :}

Do you think he's a good defender?
For Peps style of play? Absolutely. Can you name a better one?

Look mate, I understand you and many on here try to point a finger at someone to blame for what was a bitter pil to swallow. It’s simply wrong. I can look at any goal we conceded during both games vs Real and tell you who makes what kind of mistake. We should’ve scored more and conceded less. Easy statement I know. If you wanna blame someone blame the whole team. As I find missing sitters or putting yourself in a wrong position as poor as defenders or midfielders making mistakes that lead to the opponent scoring.

We were terrific. Both games. Real were deadly. Both games. Its football. I hated it last Wednesday. I loved it 10 years ago.

But if you keep having the urge to blame someone, pointing a finger at a player that has been superb this season is simply wrong.

When have I blamed him or said anything was his fault? I just asked if they thought he was a good defender.
For me, he's not a good defender in the traditional sense, he's a talented footballer and fits peps style perfectly, but, he is not good defensively.

When he keeps his levels of concentration high throughout the whole game like he did yesterday there's not many better than him at the job he's meant to do. that being said he's not the best at defending, specially in 1vs1, but he's also not shite like some here say everytime he has a worse game.

I
No he's not completely useless defensively, but he is definitely not a good defender. He works perfectly in a pep system, which is great. Would he be as good in a non pep managed team?....I don't think so.

As with Zinchenko not his best game. Brilliance one moment. Hairpulling the other.

But whatever. If he starts I’m confident. And he can already look back on a fantastic season. The Pep player in full motion.

A brilliant contribution going forward tonigjt, we often forget he's a fullback. Should have squared it at the end, poor choice to shoot but I'm not keen on discouraging him from shooting, he's one of the few that does. Gave the ball away sloppily a few times but that's an accepted consequence now of what he offers going forward.
