I wish I had the time or inclination to pluck a few first season RODRI quotes from here, but I have some toe lint that needs removal.

It is exasperating to see a player who is new to the team and the system, yet plays for a top, top Portuguese team alongside Ruben & Bernardo, being pilloried and fobbed off as a waste of money. Jokers!

Give him a fucking chance and realize KDB and Bernardo (and possibly Kova) won’t be here when Nunes starts hitting his stride here.

He has more pace than any of our other midfielders and a box to box engine. He’s a big tall lad who can fill out and get stronger, just like Rodri has done, and he brings a different skill set than our other players. He is closer to a fast Gundo than anything else we have and just needs some time to find some game time in a rather competitive world class midfield!

I hope many of you are eating your words 12 months from now.

It’s not like people are criticising him for no reason. In the appearances he’s made he’s been very poor and he cost 50m. He’s been in the league and played in Europe for a number of seasons. The idea that he’s a kid/youth prospect is flawed. He’s not shown that he’s got enough to his game and surely if he was in training he’d be getting chances.

We don’t give players a chance here because of our rapidly seeming sense of entitlement .
I could just imagine us signing Szoboszlai, Endo and McAlister and having them written of in 12 months!
Sometimes you have to go back to move forwards.
Liverpool had little option other than to give these three an extended run in the team. That they are challenging for the title points to the fact they were a very good buy and they have all contributed positively.

It is a little different with us as Nunes, Kova have had to compete for places with existing world class players. There hours are bound to be restricted and more difficult for them to get any momentum. I think Kova has that albeit he seems to lack any real attacking threat which in turn has an impact. Gvardiol for me has had a successful first season albeit he is unlikely to contribute much from the left wing in terms of goals/assists.
I don't think its unreasonable for fans to expect a new signing to make an impact and contribute positively in their first season and arguably, we are below our peak because Kova, Nunes, Doku haven't been able to contribute the goals/assists that Guno/Mahrez/Cole did.

He does lots of thing very well and a lot of other things very poorly but I wouldn't throw the towel in on him just yet. We're entering the busiest time of the season and it's now that we're going to need to lean on our squad players. The likes of Bobb, Nunes and Doku are going to have to come in and do a job and prove their worth. They might come on and just need to see a game out, or they'll start and have to help us win games but we'll get the true measure of them then. Nunes so far has shown glimpses but I want to see him run his arse off as well as showing those lovely touches and driving forwards from midfield.

I feel we only bought him because we couldn't get Paqueta and when you see what he brings to West Ham in terms of ability on the ball, making things happen in the final third and then being back in the defensive third winning the ball back, it highlights the missing part of Nunes' game. But now is the time for him to prove he was the right buy.

I believe players are fairly assessed by Pep on their ability and suitability to play for us.
Most Wolves fans didn't rate Nunes, and were glad to see him moved on.
Imo we made mistakes in recruitment buying both Philips and Nunes.
Nunes is better than Philips but has to improve before Pep trusts him.

But in reality he hasn't been "very poor"...simple as...
