It's basic defending in which he's getting done, Before anyone says "he's not a right back" yes I understand that but he got done on the half way line against Barcola by running at full tilt, Last night was 20 yards outside our box so it's something that even a natural midfielder shouldn't be getting done by.

On the flip side he also needs to be cut some slack because he's been asked to play in a position that he's never played before. Let's hope he improves as the games go on.

Just drill it in to him to delay. Delay, Delay, Delay. You dont have to make the tackle, just get in front and slow him down.
 
responsible for the goal, but we're setting all of our defenders out for failure by our tactics. its a numbers game, mistakes will be made when we are so easy to counter

But out wide, his 1st touch as a RB is MORE than good enough compared to a defender.

His crossing is extremely underrated.

His pace and stamina is also top notch, he go up and down for the whole 90 mins.

He is so suited as an attacking RB, more than anywhere else.

I agree with all your points, but now that we have less possession and do more defending than ever under Pep, his ability to turn and get us upfield/spark counter-attacks could be extremely useful, along with the obvious of helping stop opposition counter-attacks. He led the league in tackles when he was at Wolves.

I doubt we'd ever win with him at right back but we haven't got enough CBs to play Akanji there right now so I don't see why anyone would get on his back about it.

I much prefer to say he is learning the role rather than calling him shit.

I hope he can improve his defensive capabilities as he is awesome going down the line.

I would counter that by saying if was not in the side this season would we be 4th in the PL and through to the knockout in the CL?

This guy gets far too much abuse, is he good enough? Probably not but my word he his giving his all in the shirt and he brings far more positives than negatives.

I think he looks soft as shite and plays like that. Doesn’t seem to have much of a footballing brain. Story of our season summed up, Nunes playing RB back and folk are debating his value in the position. Feels a bit like we bought it so we’ll have use it.
 
A better LW than he is RB. If Pep persists with Nunes at RB then Nunes better learn fast or he is going to get pelters on here.

The basics of being a RB are to defend first and foremost. May not be the basics for Peps tactics, but this will be what most fans judge on.

He's not going to suddenly develop the ability to defend intelligently. He'll continue to get skinned every week because he's going to keep diving in at stupid moments. Came pretty close to giving another daft penalty away as well.

It's not a case of him learning the position, he's just a dogshit defender. But I don't hold that against him because... he's not a defender.

A half decent RB would displace him from that position overnight.
 
He's being asked to play out of position which he clearly can't do. Saying that he really isn't good enough for the squad.
 
Nunes will have excellent games and games with mistakes.

The fact that our turn in form has coincided with Pep putting him at RB is likely more than a mere coincidence. We were level at PSG when he was subbed off. So, we can't say we lost there because he played.

So, the form of the team with Nunes in it speaks for itself. Let's see what happens in February.

If Dias and Stones are fit, guess Akanji will play at RB vs Real/Bayern and say Liverpool.
 
I think he is a Championship player at best. To play at the top level you have to have a great all round game as a basis. Nunes occasionally does something half decent. But so did Buster Phillips.

Nonsense.

He has some areas of deficiency and makes a few too many mistakes for the very top level, but he'd start for most teams in the league.
